Walliams is just another example of what orgs like the BBC and publishing companies like Harper Collins are prepared to do and put up with in order to keep the 'talent' happy and the money rolling in. The hand-wringing and attempts at back-tracking they do when their greed and their complete lack of principles and morality is exposed is so transparent and tiresome.

Walliams is disgusting and I really hope this is it for him, but let's not for a second forget those that actively enabled him to be the longterm, disgusting abusive person he is. He didn't happen in a vacuum.

David Walliams dropped from Waterstones Children's Book Festival​

Author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped from the Waterstones Children's Book Festival next year, following allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards young women.

The news comes after Walliams' publisher, HarperCollins, cut ties with the star on Friday. The author has strongly denied the allegations.

A spokesperson for Waterstones, the well-known British book chain, told the BBC: "HarperCollins have confirmed that David Walliams will no longer be appearing at our festival in Dundee."

Walliams has now been removed from the listed speakers list on the festival website.

It sounds as though HarperCollins have withdrawn Walliams as a speaker rather than Waterstones telling him not to turn up, but this may have been a matter of timing and of which company got in first. Either way, the process of his cancellation continues.

David Walliams has been dropped as an ambassador for a leading children's charity amid 'harassment' allegations against the comic star.

The Children's Trust announced the TV star and children's author as its new celebrity supporter in January 2018, joining the likes of singer Dame Elaine Paige and actress Joely Richardson.

But today, a spokesperson for the charity told the Mail : ‘After a review of our ambassador programme earlier in the year, David Walliams is no longer an ambassador of The Children’s Trust.’

So we have to ask why schools have continued to push his books when there have been serious questions about his conduct for years. These allegations have not come out of the blue but have been swirling around for at least a decade if not longer.

I am not sure why they suddenly became so popular in schools. It was like other fads which seemed to spring up from no where such as yoyos and ,loom bands .
Parents jumped on the bandwagon and it became the in thing for their child to be reading.
Walliams was clever enough to embed modern day issues in his books so teachers were all too ready to rush and include them in the curriculum.
People voicing concerns were not listened to.

The same reason why, despite serious questions, a certain TV celebrity was allowed to host a popular show that was not only aimed at children, but featured them, for many years.

As one other poster said - it's money, the other reason is that sometimes these people are enabled by those who have equally nasty personalities - but it'll be the celeb who will take the fall in the first place to end up protecting those above them.

I'm inclined to believe the allegations, because it sounds like there are many, and he claims he was never informed of allegations, as if it's all a shocking surprise. Nonsense.

He also claims there was no formal investigation, and that could be true and THAT right there is a big part of the problem!

I suspect it's because predators tend to congregate in certain industries or sectors which afford them opportunities, and then they protect each other. Many, many years ago I listened to an interview with a researcher into all forms of abuse on one of the BBC Radio 4 current affairs programmes. He said that paedophiles gravitate to those professions that give them unquestioned and easy access to children, especially the priesthood, social work and teaching. I imagine that predators who target children and teens could find a ready pool of vulnerable victims in parts of the media, especially TV aimed at children and teens. As we saw with Jimmy Savile, of course.

I take it you're not in the UK because Walliams is pretty much universally known here, originally as a comedian and subsequently as the purported writer of children's books.

I imagine that he used his wealth to pay for lawyers to try and frighten victims with legal letters or paid for out of court settlements which included nda 's.

The children’s author admitted to a small convention crowd he frequently shares ‘very bad taste jokes’ with other high profile celebrity comedians and friends and has worries they could be brought into the public spotlight.

It's exactly the kind of thing someone says when they know the optics of their horrendous views and actions. He didn't say those things in ignorance of how they'd be received. He said them because he thought he'd get away with it.
