Actor Bill Daily most famous for ‘I dream of Jeannie’ has died aged 91

The star of I Dream of Jeannie, Bill Daily, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, aged 91.

Tributes were paid to the actor, who also played Howard Borden in The Bob Newhart Show, by his former co-stars on Friday, when the sad news was confirmed.

Barbara Eden, 87, announced the news with a Tweet, writing: 'Our favorite zany astronaut, Bill Daily has passed. Billy was wonderful to work with.'

I Dream of Jeannie Star Bill Daily Dies at 91: Read Barbara Eden, Bob Newhart's Moving Tributes

After Jeannie, Daily would spend all six seasons (and 140 episodes) on The Bob Newhart Show, playing Newhart’s dotty neighbor, airline pilot Howard Borden.

“Bill Daily & I go back to Chicago in the 50s,” Newhart, 89, wrote on Twitter. “He and I were both trying to get into standup.”

I loved watching I Dream of Jeanie growing up. Major Healy always cracked me up..... I'm sure he's cracking people up in heaven now.
