Carrie and Debbie finished each other's sentences. Their bond was one of the strongest I think I have ever seen in a
mother-daughter relationship.

Carrie joked how they would bicker but it was obvious they needed to be in each other's lives.

Rest in Peace beautiful strong women Carrie and Debbie. Prayers of love and comfort to the family.

My heart is saddened.

“God speed mama,” the 49-year-old actress wrote on Twitter, hours following news of theSingin’ in the Rain star’s hospitalization on Wednesday afternoon.

Along with the tweet, Joely, who is the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Connie Stevens, also shared a throwback photo of her and Reynolds, 84, laughing and smiling at the Hollywood premiere of Carrie’s HBO documentary Wishful Drinking in 2010.

You don't have to have a pre-existing condition to form a blood clot when flying. Clots form because you are not moving for long periods of time. If clots break off and travel they can cause heart attack or stoke. She was flying from London to US so a very long flight.

"Blood clots can sometimes form in your legs during air travel because you are immobile for long periods of time, often sitting in cramped spaces with little leg room. While commonly referred to as "economy class syndrome," the clinical term for this type of blood clot is deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The longer the flight, the more at risk you are for developing a clot. Flights lasting 8-10 hours or longer pose the greatest risk."
http://www.hematology.org/Patients/Clots/Travel.aspx

I understand this. But, regardless, the risks are greater if someone has a pre-existing condition, or previous addictions to cocaine. I do understand that someone without a medical background may not understand this. The fact is, that certain drugs, cocaine, can damage the heart. That aside, us debating this is irrelevant, the loss of this wonderful lady is all that matters. RIP Princess Leia. :rose:

http://www.everydayhealth.com/news/myths-facts-about-life-threatening-blood-clots/
Myth: If a DVT is going to form, there’s nothing you can do to stop it.
Fact: Your likelihood of getting a blood clot is based on other factors related to your health, several of which you have control over. These include obesity, smoking, taking birth control pills, immobility, and dehydration. “Stay healthy, exercise, drink lots of water, and quit smoking,” said Hofmann.

http://www.livescience.com/48796-cocaine-heart-damage-undetectable.html
The results showed cocaine users had abnormal blood flow in the heart's small vessels, a condition that puts them at risk for heart problem or even death, according to the study presented here today (Nov. 18) at the meeting of the American Heart Association.
In cocaine users, the small vessels were over-dilated, resulting in faster blood flow. The abnormalities were still clear even when comparing cocaine users to nonusers who had diabetes or high blood pressure. Smoking habits were also unable to explain the difference between groups, the researchers said.
"We need more research on this, but there's some evidence to suggest cocaine itself can stimulate clot formation and may contribute to atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease," Kumar said. Atherosclerosis is the build-up of plaque in the arteries, and coronary artery disease is the narrowing of the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart.

With no official spot on Hollywood Boulevard to mourn Carrie Fisher, fans of the actor, author and activist crafted a pop-up tribute for the icon on the Walk of Fame Tuesday.

Dedicated fans decorated a blank star in front of the Grauman's Chinese Theatre for the "Star Wars" actor. They surrounded it with candles and white roses and stuck on letters that formed "Carrie Fisher - May the force be with you always - Hope."

RIP Carrie

Amazon's Catastrophe has got to be one of the funniest comedies of all times. Carrie had a small part playing the male lead's mother.

http://variety.com/2016/dirt/real-e...erly-hills-estate-debbie-reynolds-1201949728/

The saucy and husky-voiced novelist and actress, perhaps best known for penning both the book and screenplay for “Postcards from the Edge” and for portraying Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” movies, had been in the U.K. prior to her death filming the third season of Amazon’s “Catastrophe."

An unnamed “source close to the actress” told Entertainment Tonight the gutsy and outspoken Hollywood royal — her parents were*crooner Eddie Fisher and the inestimable Debbie Reynolds — “’had just bought a place in London’ and was ‘looking forward’ to having ‘more time there."

Just found out

Her one woman show, on YT is poignant, funny, self-depreciating, authentic warm sharing the hell, she lived, sharing the road back to sanity (kinda)
,

Wishful Drinking is an autobiographical book by American actress and author Carrie Fisher, published by Simon & Schuster in 2008. Fisher's book was based on her one-woman stage show, which she developed with writer/director Joshua Ravetch. The show debuted at The Geffen Playhouse with Ravetch directing. It enjoyed a successful Broadway run and toured in other cities. In 2010, HBO filmed a feature-length documentary of the stage play.

you have to give it some time but once you there you are captivated its a learning experience --give it some time tho pls

Finally got around to watching this today and highly recommend it. Learned a lot about Carrie and now want to read all her books. Would like to know what happened to her stepsiblings, especially Tina Karl Diamond, who shared a room with Carrie, and if they stayed in touch with CF and DR.

Her weight gain was largely due to the drugs she took for the bipolar disorder. I have a friend who had a breakdown in college and was later diagnosed with Bipolar I and she has had the same problem.

I hope Gary is doing ok. I read that Debbie Reynolds has a shaggy dog, Dwight, that was good friends with Gary.

Gary was Fisher’s French bulldog,*a therapy dog who helped her cope with her bipolar disorder. “Gary is like my heart. Gary is very devoted to me and that calms me down,” Fisher told the Herald-Tribune in 2013. “He’s anxious when he’s away from me.”

Fisher acquired Gary about four years ago, at a “very tragic pet store” in New York City, the actress told NPR: “He looks like he was from like a puppy mill . . . everything is sort of wrong with him.”

Debbie Reynolds finds babysitting her daughter Carrie Fisher's Coton de Tulear dog Dwight to be a pleasure. *Recently Debbie and Dwight appeared together in a picture in the Los Angeles Times with Debbie holding hats once owned by Harpo Marx, and Charlie Chaplin. (see picture below). *When interviewed Debbie had this to say about babysitting Dwight, "this is Dwight. This is Carrie's dog. *I'm the grandma. Carrie's dog is a Coton de Tulear, which is a fancy name for a dog, just an adorable little dog."

I think I read that Gary was going to Billie's to live with her and her own French Bulldog. I'll see if I can find a link.

http://www.tmz.com/2016/12/28/carrie-fisher-dog-daughter/

Billie already has a French bulldog named Tina, that's best friends with Gary. We're told she wants to make sure the 2 get along in the long term and she's able to handle the added responsibility.

There's a sweet photo of Gary and Tina at the link.

http://nypost.com/2016/12/31/disney-could-receive-50m-for-carrie-fishers-death/

Carrie Fisher’s death could be a windfall for Disney.

The entertainment company, the distributor of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and the next two films in the franchise, could receive $50 million thanks to an insurance policy the company took out in the event Fisher was unable to fulfill her three-film contract.

It’s set to be the largest single personal accident insurance claim payout ever, according to Insurance Insider.

My favorite line said by Debbie after she had lost her money not once but twice through the second and third husbands, ‘Eddie’s starting to look like the good husband.’

JUST IN: The LA County Coroner says @carriefisher died of sleep apnea and other undetermined factors. Manner of death is still undetermined.

After all this time there are "undetermined factors"?

ETA: I found a little more here: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-carrie-fisher-death-20170616-story.html
Los Angeles County coroner’s office on Friday listed the cause of death for “Star Wars” star Carrie Fisher as sleep apnea and other factors, including drug use.

In addition to the listed cause of death, the coroner’s statement cited “other conditions: atherosclerotic heart disease, drug use.”

It also said: “How Injury Occurred: Multiple drug intake, significance not ascertained.”

I saw Carrie Fisher when she did her Wishful Drinking tour and she said Elizabeth Taylor had left Debbie some jewelry in her will! It was a set of earrings, necklace and bracelet. Oh, Hollywood, I wish I understood you.

(I had no idea sets like that had a name other than set, but in her will ET referred to it as a parure.)
