My friend is 42, lives at home. He was gainfully employed as a cashier at grocery store for 18 years, but due to a physical condition, he has not been able to advance in career. Recently, he got involved in a pyramid scheme and lost some money. He has had other stresses recently. He is considered vulnerable.

The other day, he quit his job and depleted his bank account and has disappeared. He wrote a note to his parents saying that he found an opportunity. His phone is turned off. He cancelled his social media accounts. I don't know what happened to his car, but he cancelled his auto insurance.

His family contacted the police and police report was filed. However, because he is an adult and has his own phone carrier contract, there is no way the police or family can access his phone records or computer. The family feels phone records or computer records might indicate what his plans were.

I've been a member here for a few years. I think it may help if they join. I'm starting the conversation.

Thank you

Any advice is appreciated. Some of us think the family might need to hire a PI. But I hear stories about PIs ripping people off and going nowhere too.

@Friday Fan , praying for your friend's safety and quick resolution to the situation!

How much time needs to pass before LE will take a report?

Can you (or the family) set up a Facebook missing page with pictures of your friend & the car?

You mention a physical condition. Perhaps disability advocates in your area would have advice?

So sorry!

Police took report right away. But investigation is limited because he is an adult who appears to have disappeared voluntarily.

Yes, we are spreading the word on facebook.

My friend was found, thanks to a PI in the family. He was 300 miles away. He was being "kept" by two men who were taking advantage of his disability.

Oh my; so glad that he's been found. I hope those who were taking advantage of his vulnerability are prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.

Wow, I'm glad he was located and I hope he's okay.

Thank Goodness.
And I agree---I hope these vile idiots are charged with something and arrested. That is disgusting to take advantage of that man's disabilities. They lured him with some lie about an 'opportunity.'

Same way young girls ares trafficked.
