Just like a jury member, I am asking myself if the (alleged) Victim has left me with reasonable doubt as to the veracity of the nominee's testimony. She has. In good conscience, I could not vote in his favor.

Was this more the misadventures of youth and blurry memories due to time and intoxicants? We have no way of knowing for certain. However, there are enough troubling testimonies that would prevent me from endorsing this man for such a critical role in the American justice system.

That's what I thought.

Although some women would classify groping as 'rape and assault'.
I do not .
My friend was groped in 9th grade ; when a boy pinched her bottom.
She hasn't accused him of 'rape' at all.
And that has not caused her any suffering over the years.

Somewhere there must be a police report floating around regarding Ford's assaults by the boys in school.
Assault is traumatic and often the first thing a girl/lady would do is to report it. In order to receive justice , and to "name and shame" the attacker.

I know we can't become too political in this forum.
It'd be nice to have a thread open for just politics, lol.

IMO it is not ok to touch anyone in anyway unless the other person makes it clear that it is wanted .

There was no rape becasue he was too drunk to figure out how to take off her bathing suit. If anyone can come up with a reason for shoving lady down on a bed , be grinding his genitals into hers, while touching her, and covering her mouth not attempted rape I am really confused here.

What was he doing? THrusting

what was he trying to do :get off her clothes

dudes who are thrusting and attempting to rip ones clothes up -- that is attempted rape.

What is the reason of trying to rip her clothes off? To get her naked is my conclusion.

Apparently he has a thing for thrusting his crotch at people - that iknown as intercourse - I think

What does anyone else think he was doing?

Scary the question has to be asked jmo

misadventures of youth ??

sneaking out of the house

wrecking the car

not eating your vegetables

misadventures.....

slamming ladies down on bed is not a misadventure - nor is whipping out ones penis -- it is sexually violating another person

Dr.. Ford's testimony was very compelling, and her story very chilling. Her emotions seemed genuine and I believe her. In my opinion this is clearly sexual assault and attempted rape if the details are correct. And some of the additional details make this really bad, being pushed in the room, the door being locked, the music being turned up, her mouth covered.

On the other hand, judge Kavanaugh's testimony wasn't so compelling. His answers were often evasive and his attitude very combative. It seemed to me that his exhibition of anger was deliberate and out of Trump's playbook. From the circumstantial evidence, he clearly lied about how much he drank, and the sexual innuendo's in the yearbook. Obviously he is embarrassed about these things, but under oath he
should tell the truth.

Hopefully the investigation gives us more insight about whether he lied about the sexual assault. But I believe Dr. Ford and I think that a mistaken identity is unlikely. She already new Mark Judge and
Kavanaugh before the assault. She even looked Mark Judge in the eyes according to her testimony.
So, at this point I do believe he assaulted Dr. Ford although I am not certain. In any case,
I don't think he has the right temperament to be a judge.

Of course agree. If my post inferred otherwise then it was constructed wrong.

i have a different take on the situation: we will never know the truth---her version of events will never be proven and neither will his: but, the hearing gave us a window into exactly who Brett Kavanaugh is, a very unusual situation. Supreme Court Justices sort of live in the shadows- we don't know much about most of them----except for Clarence Thomas. The window into Brett Kavanaugh did not present a pretty picture. I can understand his anger; being accused of a sexual attack that occurred 36 years ago, without any corroboration is upsetting. However, he was not able to control his emotions, which he should have been able to do given all of the coaching he had. His anger was enormous: it took over the room- his face was twisted in hate- He was in a rage. and my friends, his hate is directed towards the democrats. He vilified the democrats while praising Trump to the hilt.

After all is said and done, if he is nominated to the Supreme Court we will have a jurist that is clearly biased against democrats; the position of a supreme court justice is supposed to be non-partisan. that is not Brett Kavanaugh, and on that basis IMO he is not fit to be a supreme court judge.

Great post, @ilovewings. Well said and thoughtful. Thank you.

His inconsistency and temperament make him difficult to believe, imo.

Brett Kavanaugh Testimony: Three Inconsistencies the F.B.I. Investigation Could Address

1. In his denial of the alleged assault, Judge Kavanaugh seemed to repeatedly claim that the people Dr. Blasey said were at the house have said the gathering “didn’t happen.” However, other than Judge Kavanaugh, the three people who have made public statements have only said they have no memory of it.
...

2. Judge Kavanaugh repeatedly pointed to his personal calendar from the summer of 1982 as evidence that he “all but definitively” was not there. He said it showed he was out of town nearly every weekend and too busy during the week to go to parties.

However, Judge Kavanaugh’s calendar entries show at least two weekend parties and one social gathering during the week. On July 1, a Thursday, he noted plans to go to “Timmy’s for skis,” slang for drinking beers, with three of the people Dr. Blasey said were at the gathering where she said the alleged assault occurred.
...

3. Judge Kavanaugh said he did not know Dr. Blasey, but Dr. Blasey said she went out with one of his good friends and attended four or five parties where Judge Kavanaugh was present.

How do you know how much coaching Kavanaugh had?

An Associate Justice to the Supreme Court is appointed by the President of the United States and is most definitely a partisan position. A conservative President will appoint a Justice with conservative views and a liberal President will appoint a Justice with Liberal views. They will hope that the Justice they appoint will vote in a way that is desirable to them. It's an extremely partisan position.

That's why I couldn't vote for Clinton. There was no way I would want her to appoint a Supreme Court Justice. JMO

Am I understanding correctly that there were only the four people named at this party? If so, it seems she was most likely driven by her girlfriend, or did Mark Judge pick her up? This would be an important question for the FBI to delve into, IMO.

Another item would be, if there were only these four at the party, then the house belonged to a family member or acquaintance of one of the boys. JMO.

There is a big missing piece here that no one has bothered to investigate because they don’t want to know!

My opinions only.

How does a teenager gain access to a house of an acquaintance who is not attending the party?

Is this acquaintance the home owner? Would an adult homeowner turn over their house to a group of teenagers to have a party?

I heard on public radio that he has been coached for months on how to deal with his hearing. Not this sex one, though.

I don’t know where it is on public radio so I will have to say MOO

Lol. Back in the day teens would have parties while parents were away. There were even TV shows on how wild they were.

People did not used to lock their house. Or maybe someone was taking care of the plants while the owners were on vacation.

Coached for months? Okay. But it wasn't for the sex one.

Too bad he didn't get coaching for that hearing. He could have used the help.

After thinking on Kavanaugh’s testifying, several points have come up.

Kavanaugh lives in the DC area, correct? It would be my guess that he is socializing with all the big political people who were sitting in that hearing grilling him. I would imagine they know his drinking habits fairly well. They know his social habits as well. Very few of them are the perfect gentleman behind the scene. IMO.

This knowledge may have been what eventually sent Kavanaugh into showing his temper and rage! I am not defending him.

As a judge, he has a huge ego! He is use to asking all the questions, making the decisions, being in control. So, to sit on the other side, after so long of a time period, he couldn’t take it any more! The questions were delving into his personal space, which is a no-man’s land for him.

One thing that I would question, is he a narcissist?

My opinions only.

So kids would just walk into people homes who where away and have a party. That is wild. Too bad Dr Ford doesn't remember that.
