Good call but i think it is quite clear he drowned in a boat accident with the rest of the crew

Unfortunately it seems LE in Alaska are hesitant to work with @othram (or just haven’t considered it). There are only two cases from Alaska on the DNASOLVES site.

I don’t think Flagpole Doe is likely to get his name back without the use of genetic genealogy, so hoping somewhere down the line it is considered.

The good news is both the other cases were also in Anchorage so will be the same police department, will they not? Maybe it's a resources issue - testing is expensive.

It certainly can be expensive. Would be happy to contribute towards the testing if they worked with Othram and got a funding link up as many DNASolves cases tend to have.

Yes, we are always happy to help raise funding for cases!

I have found an email listed as the ‘cold case’ contact for Anchorage PD, and have sent a brief email to note Othram’s potential interest to help as well as the willingness of some of this forum to help fundraise should work on the case get underway.

Will update if I receive a reply…

Has Ralph Alan Newcombe been suggested for this uid before? He fits the description. Missing from Seattle, but his truck was found parked at the Alaska ferry terminal.

Never mind, I see that he has been ruled out twice as being the uid.

  • #131
Received a reply to say they will take a closer look when time permits, and a quick thank you note about the willingness to help.

  • #132
That is encouraging. I never got a response from them at all about a year ago when I made an inquiry about the case

Has Edmond Belliveau or Dale Sinclair been considered?

I have received confirmation from Doe Network that Edmond Belliveau has been ruled out by fingerprints.
Edmond Bellivue has been ruled out by fingerprints.

With all due respect and maybe because I'm not American but how the chuff do you climb a flagpole? When we were kids we used to try and climb lampposts but we never got more than 3 or 4 ft off the ground.

I had never heard of this man before today. Another soul to add to my prayer list

Has anyone suggested William Prescott? His age, height, weight, hair colour all match it says William's eyes are green whereas Doe's eyes are blue or hazel, I'm not sure if that automatically discounts him but my mum has hazel eyes that some people think are brown or green. William disappeared 9 years before our Doe went to that McDonald's but he could have worked on boats during that time or developed mental health issues. I'd be interested to know what way our Doe was facing when he fell. Just a theory

No comparison has been made that I can see.

Flagpole Doe is listed as having ‘no scars noted’ vs 4942DMCA with ‘scar on stomach’, but it could of course be that the medical examiner didn’t think the scar worth mentioning. Although it seems 4942DMCA is missing with a vehicle, which always makes me think they’re in water somewhere.

Both have dentals, DNA and fingerprints available, so should be easy enough to compare.

I've never done this before. Who would I notify? What do I say? I know it's a long shot but after 40 years and 36 years respectively anything is worth a shot is it not?

It looks like that info was from Doe Network, if you head back to their website the have a menu option to ‘submit a match’, and you just follow the prompts from there. I’ve only done it a couple of times myself (including for this doe!) but they’re normally pretty good with getting in touch to let you know if they’re progressing the potential match or not. That way Doe Network takes care of coordinating efforts and speaking to LE.
Alternately you could contact LE directly.
