People from Nome are searching for two snowmachiners who were traveling there from Teller, but never arrived.

Teller is about 70 miles northwest of Nome. Troopers say 38-year-old David Miller and 37-year-old Rex Iyatunguk, both of Teller, left the village around noon Monday on a blue Polaris 550.

The pair did not have emergency supplies or gear with them.

Efforts to find the missing pair are continuing while the community of Nome prepares to receive international attention. Mushers and their teams will arrive in the coming weeks to cross the finish line of the 1,000-mile Iditarod sled dog race.
