Fairbanks woman charged with killing young daughters 2 years apart

Stephany Lafountain, 23, is charged with first- and second-degree murder for the deaths of her daughters, who were 13 months and 4 months old when they died.

The 4 month old died in 2015, the 13 month old in 2017. Her internet search history is disturbing and part of why they chose to arrest her.

Police found that an hour before Lafountain reported her 13-month-old wasn't breathing, she'd searched for things including:

Can drowning show in an autopsy report
16 steps to kill someone and not get caught
How to: Commit the perfect murder
Drowning and forensics
Suffocating and smothering

So I guess her 1st court date already happened on 9/5.

LaFountain is scheduled for an omnibus hearing at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and a calendar call Oct. 5. Her trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 15 but will likely be set off for a later date, as is common in homicides and other serious felony cases.

A Fairbanks woman accused of killing her 4-month-old daughter in 2015 and her 13-month-old daughter in 2017 will be arraigned at 2 p.m. in Fairbanks Superior Court today.

Stephany Elizabeth LaFountain, 23, reportedly conducted internet searches on how to commit the perfect murder one hour before she reported her 13-month-old wasn’t breathing on Nov. 20, 2017. The child died at Providence Hospital in Anchorage four days later.

Fairbanks police opened a double homicide investigation after noticing the child died under similar circumstances as LaFountain’s 4-month-old who died Sept. 15, 2015, after LaFountain reported she wasn’t breathing.
