Today marks three years and a day since the murder of Kathleen Jo Henry.
Three long years and a day...
Next discovery hearing is set for October 24, 2022 at 2:30 PM.
Thank You @PatLaurel for keeping us updated. Kathleen was healing herself from the disappointments in her life. Strong woman looking hopeful to the future. She sounded like an honest, authentic person with a cute personality.

I just want to hear the murdering monster will never ever get out of prison. I also hope no one supplies him with commissary money or visits him. All family and friends forget him behind those bars. Remembering Kathleen instead.

Kathleen Jo Henry wrote:

Think I better get moving.

Enjoying time and spending it fair.
Never to look back to the past.
Needs to be met without a doubt.

Successful goals are check marked.
Time and place have high class scenery.
Totally having fun every second 24/7.

She wrote about relationship troubles, indicating-- “I’m not a con-artist and I know best not to get married. I’m divorced and excited each day and night even though there may be a time and place when I act as if nothing ever existed. I Had seven ex-boyfriends and one ex-husband. I left because I might end up disabled by one of the deadly men I had during a relationship and here I’m tough Alaska chick.”

She also wrote, “I Kathleen JO Henry solemnly swear did not kill no one before. if anyone of you read my mind and heard other voices in my thoughts then don’t think wrong. my life is based on a true story.”

If anyone told me 3 years ago that this would take so long and would receive such litle coverage, I would never have believed it.

This should be major nationwide news.

That's my wish, too!

I find it reprehensible that indigenous women are given so little attention by media. This case is dragging on far too long. Looking at the Courtview Online Information for Alaska, next discovery hearing is set for Dec 19 at 2:30pm.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to some real news on this case. It is shameful that this case started in Oct 2019 with an *Arrest*. There's plenty of evidence, tons, that nails him guilty undeniably. There's no death penalty in Alaska, so let's get him sentenced to LWOP. He should never, ever, ever be on the streets again to laugh while he's beating women to death.

Why are there so many discovery hearings? When is the sentencing hearing?!

Would it surprise anyone if we found out that Brian Smith was friends with Israel Keyes, Robert Fisher, Russel William's, Alek Minassian et al? I've been thinking all these guys must bump into each other somewhere. eta: the military surplus store, that's where.

This is all MOO. They most likely don't have any friend or anyone they're close enough to that knows what scum they are in real life. I don't think anyone truly knew the real Israel Keyes. People thought Brian, our woman-beating killer here, was a nice guy and didn't catch a hint of what horrible things he was doing. I don't imagine his wife had any idea. All that equipment, drones and such, and how he liked to go off by himself in wilderness she thought admirable. Said his truck was a "chick magnet" and he was not kidding.

Brian must've hated women or just some women. Who knows what other crimes he did before he got to Alaska. Doubt he just started his killings then. He actually complained it was taking too long, and it hurt his fist, while he was trying to beat a woman to death. Lock him away forever please.

IMHO anyone who is into extreme sports, hunting/trapping, sport fishing, ex military/LE, taxidermy and all that immediately raises alarms for me.

It appears that both Brian Smith and Robert Fisher had somewhat of a social aspect to their lives. Hunting buddies, ex military friends, church, other couples.

It's just bizarre how many of these guys are similar yet operated alone and never crossed paths. Not to mention how many of them probably creeped out those around them but nothing substantial enough to make something of it.

I think the wife was mostly in the dark or played dumb. After all she married this guy and even if she didn't know what he was up to, there's still his awful Quora account, his opinions and captions on his photos etc. He comes off as arrogant, racist, full of himself. I'm sure he will be popular in prison lol!

Bumping with hope that it really happens on
December 19 , 2022.

You got that right, @whiterhino, he is arrogant, a racist, and full of himself. MOO, of course. In the back of my mind I wonder if he recorded "snuff films", and maybe he did have a group of sick, perverted buddies. The SD card containing a video of a homicide, the drone he had, etc., Was he recording for himself or for profit?

The headline using the word "assaulting" is inadequate. He picked her up from a place many women getting their lives back together went to in the area for some help. He was in his chick magnet truck, and took her to a hotel room to beat her to death. Oh, and come to find out, that wasn't his first murder of a indigenous woman from the area.

Here's a quote taken from the first post and the news article for anyone just joining us. Please chime in.

Alaska murder mystery twist: Memory card found along road shows man assaulting and killing woman, cops say
Nearly a week prior, on Sept. 30, someone called Anchorage Police claiming to have "an SD card containing a video of a homicide," according to a press release from authorities. The caller told police the memory card was found laying in the middle of the street in the Fairview neighborhood of Anchorage.

All My Own Opinion.

Looked for any mention that the Discovery Hearing on December 19, 2022 happened, but could find nothing. Lots of coverage when it was sensational news, but no follow-ups since then from any of the media outlets. We, here, stand waiting for Justice for Kathleen and the other women harmed by this man.

I found this dated October 13, 2022.

How many discovery hearings are they going to have before it goes to trial?? Is there even a trial date set? Is this normal?
Just posting this as a way to say a trial looks much closer now. We are actually slowly moving along towards a trial. (It is always possible they could agree on a Plea deal and we'd have to accept that. They have some solid evidence for that to likely happen.) How I see it is these hearings are a way for both sides to hammer out issues before trial; otherwise, the trial would have lots of sidebars and interruptions. Posting this below info to show how close we're getting to a trial.
(Per a Nolo site) Discovery is the process through which defendants find out about the prosecution's case. For example, through standard discovery procedure, they can:
  • get copies of the arresting officers' reports and statements made by prosecution witnesses, and
  • examine evidence that the prosecution proposes to introduce at trial.
A Status Hearing is to check on the status of the case. It is a time to determine if the case can be plea bargained, discovery issues, or to set the case for trial. A status hearing or, more often, status conference, in a criminal court is a hearing to determine the status, or progress and direction, of a case.

I remember a group of women with the red hand print over their mouth at Kathleen Henry's killer's courtroom hearing. I know about this now and want to thank and support the NO MORE STOLEN SISTERS MOVEMENT.

Taking a stand: Auliʻi Cravalho, 22, attended The Power premiere at the DGA Theater in New York City on Thursday with a large red handprint painted on her face, in an act of solidarity with Indigenous women and the No More Stolen Sisters movement

Violence against Indigenous women has reached unprecedented levels on tribal lands in the U.S. and in Alaska Native villages.

More than four in five American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence, and more than one in two have experienced sexual violence, according to the Indian Law Resource Center.

Some articles I found searching for a pic of "those women with the red hand print over their mouths" at Kathleen's killer's hearing. Haven't found a pic of them yet. Here's some articles I did find for anyone wanting to know more about this case.

Photos

Video about the killer and the memory card found on the street that got him caught.

Yes! You found it. Thank You @PatLaurel. You always come through for us. These women were there in support and to get Justice. They are seeking Justice because another woman, Veronica Abouchuk, was also killed by this man, Brian Smith.

So, he is not a one-time killer, but as we suspect there are probably more women he killed. He actually confessed to killing Veronica. My hope is that he is put behind bars for life. Anything less than that would be a failure of LE and the Judicial system to protect all women. I wish more media outlets would help by keeping these cases in the news, not just "certain" cases.
"They'd come to witness the second arraignment of 48-year-old Brian Smith, whom police say shot Abouchuk and left her body along a highway north of Anchorage."

We may be getting closer to a trial. Thank You.
