In an article from Your Alaska Link, there is a note at the bottom of the web article: "Police note that to remove someone from missing status, they must first be located and contacted in person by an officer."

A GoFundMe was created in Hope's name. According to the information in this GoFundMe, "... she was on her way back to college in Soldotna but never arrived, and it is completely out of character for her not to call or text her family. Since that day, the family have not heard from her, and her phone now goes straight to voicemail. [...] She left behind her suitcase, purse, wallet, and a significant amout of cash, and is believed to have only had her phone with her when she disappeared. Hunt/Jackson family is extremely worried, as Kelly is someone who stays in close contact with the family every day. [...] We are raising funds to hire a private investigator in Anchorage who can dedicate time and resources to finding Kelly." The organizer of this fund is a person named Kristin Paniptchuk. It is unclear how or if the organizer is related to the family.

If you know anything about where Kelly is, if you have seen Kelly, or if you are looking to tell someone information about Kelly, please contact the Anchorage Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press “0”) and reference case 26-1122. To remain anonymous, you may contact Crime Stoppers online at www.AnchorageCrimeStoppers.com.

  • Alaskan authorities said Kelly Hunt was reported missing on Jan. 11, when she was supposed to be on her way to a Bible college
  • On April 20, a body was found in the 3500 block of Lois Drive, police said
  • Four days later, police confirmed the remains belonged to Hunt

Hunt's family members said that their loved one was heading to a Bible college in Soldotna. However, she made a stop at a friend's home in Spenard after she flew into Anchorage on Jan. 6, KTUU reported.

According to a friend, Hunt said the following morning that she was going to have a drink with someone. It was the last time she was seen.

*****
Alexis Savage, a representative for Hunt's family, told the Anchorage Daily News that they are upset over the police's handling of the investigation, alleging that authorities didn't take the teen's disappearance seriously.

“They always tell us, ‘Oh they're probably out doing whatever, but they'll come back,' " Antonia Commack, who described herself as an advocate for missing and murdered Indigenous people, told KTUU. ”But what happens when they don't come back? They always start too late.”

She was last seen at 6 a.m. after telling a friends she was "going out to drink with someone" That alone seemed odd to me - I enjoyed a few drinks at that age at any opportunity because the whole drinking experience was "new and grown up" but at 6 a.m. that seemed an odd time. I hope they are throughly looking at all angles and not just closing it with a "succumbed to the elements" for lack of immediate detailed evidence. She and her family deserves that close attention.
