Found Deceased AK - Nick Larsen, 34, Wrangell-St Elias National Park, 7 Aug 2017

Nick Larsen, 34, was last seen in McCarthy on August 7th, 2017, where he planned to backpack alone in the backcountry.

On Saturday, search efforts continued along a trail near the Kennecott area.

Larsen is described as a Caucasian male around 6 feet 5 inches tall, 190 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes.

He has a brightly colored “sleeve” tattoo and camping in a tan REI brand two-person tent.

The National Park Service has suspended the search for Nick Larsen.

NPS searchers looked through dense Boreal forest, glacial river valleys and mountains before calling off the search.

The service encourages the public to keep circulating Hansen's photo and call the NPS tip hotline with any information.

Hikers are also encouraged to file a backcountry itinerary. It should include a description of the trip, and be left with a third party so they can file an overdue report.

The Alaska State Troopers have a list of missing people in Alaska.

Searchers found the body of 34-year-old Nick Larsen, an employee of the Alaska Marine Highway System originally from Oregon, on Wednesday.
A search for Larsen had resumed this week after his backpack was found Monday along the Nizina.
