WoW sounds so promising and while I wish and pray like hell that Samantha is alive and well and will hold out hope until there is no longer anything that allows me to hope..but however I am a realist when its all boiled down... Sadly reality is that nearly 40days have come and gone..a full month and then some and there's not been even so much as atrace found of Samantha, who took her, and where she was taken and presently is.. The grim reality is that its very ljkely Samantha has been gone since mere hours after she was taken from the coffee hut.. The reality is very grim... Of that I am fully aware..

I will pray and hold out hope that Samantha is one of the exceptions to the rule.. some of those wonderfully beautiful exceptions are... My God Jaycee Dugard has got to be one of the most exceptional exceptions there is.. Elizabeth Smart..and Shawn Hornbeck are the one's most well known.. The only point is that the exceptions do very much exist.. And while very much a realist I will continue to hope and pray that Samantha can too be one of those exceptions as well..

I pray there is actual sustenance to this latest statement by LE and that they are working within one of those exceptional miracles as we speak..

Jmo, tho!

"I'm privy to the details of the investigation, and I believe that she's alive," Markiewicz said.
This is wonderful news! It's not a huge surprise to those who have been reading between the lines lately when LE started referring to an "apparent abduction", but an official statement from the head of the homicide unit is most encouraging.

More to note in this paragraph.
Markiewicz, the detective, said the investigation has not turned up any information indicating the abduction is related to James Koenig. Markiewicz would not say if Bird is a suspect or has been cleared in the investigation. The nasty dialogue between Bird's supporters and Koenig's was a distraction, Markiewicz said.

I don't take what the detective said about her being alive as news, really, just that they don't know otherwise, so they won't assume she isn't, which is fine, but why no urgency shown if they really believe that? Show the darned tape, try to get public help, if they really believe this is a ticking clock situation, forget about the one-day-maybe-there-will-be-a-trial-business...

BBM

I think the answer to that is that they believe she knows her captor(s), and IMO, there is a good chance she is involved in the abduction. I think this is why there was a delay from seeing the video to LE declaring it an abduction in the first place, and why now it is being reported as an "apparent abduction".

My Opinions, please don't take it personally. I want more than anything to see her come home safely, and I truly feel terrible for her. I was 18 once and I made some pretty stupid decisions. She is fortunate to have a father that obviously cares for her very much.

I feel like there is something that is just so odd about samantha's disappearance. It's such a blunt abduction, kind of reminds me of the Holly Bobo abduction. Both beautiful young girls abducted in a blunt manner.
It is odd that someone would walk into a workplace with a surveillance camera on and abduct someone.Either that guy is a moron or something fishy is going on. I also don't believe she would put her father through this, but when you get caught up in drugs or associate with other people who pheen for those drugs (I speak from experience with my best friend and several loved ones, who used to be on weed and cocaine, but recovered, luckily), especially cocaine, super physically addicting ( I am NOT saying Samantha was on drugs), things change, and your priorities change, you change, some people will abduct or harm others for drugs, and drug dealers will harm people for money.
If this abduction had anything to do with drugs, it is not looking good.
However, if the guy she wanted to get a restraining order on is involved, I believe maybe he can be holding her hostage.
In the end, not matter what and why she went missing, I want her home with her family. If she has done something, none of it matters, we all want her home SAFE!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Something that stuck out to me was James saying that Dwayne had been living with them for 8 months. So...why wasn't there a panic that night when D showed up to pick up S and she wasn't there? Logic to me would be you then go home and see she's not there, J hadn't picked her up, she doesn't have her truck...so where did they think she was all night? IIRC calls to her cell began the next morning.

The calls began immediately until her phone died the next day is how I recall it.

Maybe that's what im thinking of...that it died the next day.
But since they live together, at least this explains why D was driving S's truck.

It's definitely not unheard of for an attacker to act somewhat irrationally. The best example is probably Anne Sluti, who was abducted in a mall parking lot in view and earshot of multiple witnesses (and eventually found alive). Just recently, Michelle Le was attacked by a jealous, mentally disturbed acquaintance in the parking deck of the medical facility where Michelle was completing her nursing education. Michelle's attacker had done multiple things to cast suspicion on herself and the parking deck had cameras.

People who commit these crimes lack impulse control. If you could control your impulses, you wouldn't do something that could land you in prison for the rest of your life. These are people who are willing to take great risk to satisfy their psychopathic urges. Some are more calculated than others but all lack the impulse control that the average person takes for granted. Anyway, I don't think the fact that Samantha's abductor was seen on camera was really unusual. Also, think of all the crimes that get solved quickly because the perp gave him or herself away in some obvious manner. That happens everyday.

As for all the rumors, unfortunately that happens in too many of these cases and the majority of the rumors really have nothing to do with what actually happened to the missing person.

"I'm privy to the details of the investigation, and I believe that she's alive," Markiewicz said.

Markiewicz said there was no evidence that Koenig is dead. When asked if there is evidence that she is alive, he declined to comment further.

Markiewicz's remarks came Thursday afternoon just after Koenig's father held a press conference to defend his daughter against what he described as slanderous comments posted on Facebook and elsewhere online.

and another snip

"Our main focus is finding Samantha, finding her alive, and that's what we're focused on," the detective said. "That's why we're dedicating all of our resources to that. There are a lot of other things happening. But we have to maintain the focus and stay the course."

I know what you're saying here, Cluciano. LE said the same about Kyron Horman and at the same time were searching the terrain on Sauvie Island.

Do they have search teams out there looking for Samantha, though?

I asked about search teams on the fb page but no one would answer. You'd think if they really believed she was a captive somewhere there would be more urgency .:banghead:

My guess is that searching is pretty much impossible when there are 2-3 feet of snow on the ground (and more expected). And if she's being held somewhere, it's surely on private property and that can't be searched without the owner's permission, so nothing can be done on that front.

I do wish they'd release the video though.

Yeah...I guess an actual search would be kind of pointless really.

They should at least release a screenshot of the abductor's face if its on the video. Someone would surely recognize him.
