I try to keep things simple. I know nothing about the case. I know she worked in a tiny drive-up coffee hut...and vanished after her shift. I would assume the perp was familiar with her or her hours.

I would think it was a one person job...probably sex-related. She was like a sitting duck working in that place. Were there any signs of a fight?

It would be really worth your while reading the first threads on here for the first couple of pages at least, you will notice the oddities straight away which make every question asked difficult to answer, because so many can answered in so many different ways.

Sex related has not been mentioned. In short, Samantha was to finish work at 8. She had worked there for three weeks. Her dad spoke to her 90 minutes before she finished. Her boyfriend was going to pick her up from work, When he arrived she wasn't there (this was on Wednesday night - Feb 1)

the father has said that her boyfriend lived with them.

She wasn't reported missing until the Thursday. Cash from the hut was missing, the place was a little messy but no one really took notice. Then the owners found out she was missing, checked the CCTV footage and saw something taht made them call the police. The police have not released any part of that footage, not even a still shot, claiming that it may taint a future jury because of it's content. They believe the man was armed.

It was confirmed as an abduction on Friday (Feb 3) in the afternoon.

All I know about these type of crimes is to NEVER leave with the perp. Fight to the death. Do not move from your spot and think to yourself it is better to die here than go to the terrible death he may have in store for me. I wish everyone was taught this.

Most of the time, the perp will leave and you won't be harmed....many of them do not want the fight or the trouble. They are lazy in many respects and depend on intimidation to get you where they want you.

The "Brewster Shaw's Son" rule, especially when faced with the prospect of an open car trunk. Don't ever get in it.

I have resorted to reading the first few days and saw this video where the cop at the desk tries to not answer one question and doesn't and the female detective is genuinely annoyed. This all revolves around Christopher Bird and they will not say they cleared him. They say if they knew where he was at the time, they wouldn't tell that either.

That is something I don't understand. If the guy has an alibi, why not say he does? This all leads me to thinking he doesn't have an alibi for the time in question.

I am six weeks behind, so GMAB, please. Are there three suspects at this point? The BF, CB and now Isreal K.?

The LE in AK are definitely not SF, LA or NY cops. The more rural the crime, the more difficult it is to solve. So they have the video and won't release it. That tells me they have a good idea of who the perp is. He was significantly taller than Sam, correct?

After seeing the disgusting pic of CB, I vote for him sitting in a cell for the rest of his life. He is a walking testimony of what a seedy criminal strives for. After seeing him in his hoody, he just may fit the script they have regarding the hooded guy who took her.

...and now we have IK...good grief.

I don't know why sexual motives haven't been considered. This one guy had an RO filed on him for sexual assault by SK...

She was forced out of the hut and I assume with a knife or a gun and walked willingly with the perp. Why, oh why, do females continue to do this?

It appears LE is giving up nothing and are not wanting the public's help at all. If they did, they would give out info. They know exactly how tall the perp is. They may even have DNA or prints at the scene. SK left w/o anything, so this was a kidnapping and she went willingly because of fear...how sad!

imo
identity theft - the person arrested for kidnapping SK has a name but it is not really IK. He assumed the identity of IK after the suicide years ago.
If this is true, who is this person? Is he an illegal alien? Is he wanted? Does he have a violent past? If he had assumed an identity did Sam or someone she knew have inside info on him and was a threat?

Few details are known about 34-year-old Israel Keyes.
Keyes spent part of his youth in Utah, where a former babysitter says the family was Mormon and the children were home-schooled.
Keyes apparently fell away from the faith, describing himself as an atheist on what appears to be his MySpace page.
He served a stint in the army and was honorably discharged, although soon afterward he was convicted of driving under the influence and other traffic-related charges.
Keyes ran a marathon in Olympia, Washington, in 2006.

A carpenter, he did work for an Indian tribe in Washington before moving to Anchorage in 2007.

In Alaska, he is registered to vote as a Democrat.
He is the proprietor of Keyes Construction.

Jeez, Anchorage is a small town. A family member of mine knows someone who had Keyes do work on their house in 2010 or early 2011. He did such a great job that they passed his business card along to my family member. They said he cleaned up every night so you didn't even know he was there. These people are elderly and he was very kind to them. They called him a few months later to hire him for more work and he said he would have to get back to them because he was on vacation a sailboat in Puerto Rico with his daughter. These people had him install a wood stove and he told them he had just installed one for his girlfriend.

So, take that tidbit with a grain of salt, it's third hand info from elderly people.

This is interesting...the Keyes family name originates from old docks or quays. http://www.houseofnames.com/keyes-family-crest

This guy has lived on the ocean in a few places and is possibly experienced with boats.

This is interesting to me...I don't know if it has anything to do with the case...but it may...

He comes from a large family and I have seen pics and they all look very much alike.

Sent this to my recently retired Army hubby (he did 26 years as an active duty officer)
==============
Wanna look at something for me? http://keyesconstruction.net/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/AAM_award.152155131.jpg

Is that real – or maybe a fake?

Current example of the format that you might find online would show no indention. HOWEVER, take a look at the two attachments – the word "TO" and the word "FOR" are preprinted on the award certificate, forcing that indention that you are looking at.

ISREAL would be a common misspelling for ISRAEL for some numnut personnel specialist and was probably overlooked by some S1 who, as I was often told when I was the S1, "couldn't spell his way out of a wet paper bag". Going back and making the change was probably more trouble than it was worth.

LTC Tyree was a commander of the 1st of the 5th (http://www.bobcat.ws/cofcommand.htm ) He was promoted to LTC in 1997 so would still have been a LTC in 2001 when this was issued. Looks like he came out of command in June of 2002 so that's more to indicate that he was in command during the time of this award.

So – from face value, it looks legit. It could have been forged with the technology today but doesn't look that way from what I'm seeing.

Also - someone said something about LTC should've been Lt. Col. -- that's the AIRFORCE way of doing it. It is correct for the Army as LTC.

Don't know and it's probably not that important anyway but maybe to cover if he was dishonorably discharged due to DUI... Moo

His official discharge papers were shown on a news clip (the link was posted here) while you couldn't read them the news person cited an honorable discharge. Aren't military discharge papers public record?

I'm a military brat. Never served myself but all the men in my family have and while some units / divisions are insanely strict ... others are insanely lax. A close family member had the wrong blood type on his dog tags for years... he actually figured it WAS his blood type and his parents were wrong. Until there was a need to know for sure.

If THAT can be messed up, spacing and dating on a document easily can be. Not saying it's NOT a forgery, but honestly it doesn't matter if it is or isn't.

As disgusting as the pic might be, it doesn't make him guilty. He did have an alibi and witnesses as to where he was the night of the abduction. He's moving back to NC in a few days, which tells me LE is no longer looking at him as a person of interest if they're letting him leave the state.

If BF refers to the boyfriend, he has not been named as a suspect. CB is not a suspect, he had an alibi and his mother has been very vocal online. I think CB sees this as a chance to get noticed, he is a rap 'artist' known as whyte tyson (you can youtube him if you feel like punishing yourself lol). IK has been referred to as a POI and suspect, depends on what cop has the mic.

We do know that anchorage police came to Texas when he was arrested (once again some reports say they were there before he was arrested others say they came down later0 and that they would be serving about 40 warrants in the next several days after he was arrested. They did say there was evidence in his car linking him to Samantha.

From the footage of his arrest ( a camera crew actually only filmed it because it happened during a lunch rush at a restaurant and had onlookers - they had no idea who they were filming at the time).

The reason they gave for not releasing the tape was that nothing would be gained from showing it because the man was wearing a hoody. The police said that by SK's demeanour in that footage and the fact they believed the person had a weapon was why it changed from a missing person to an abduction. The other reason for not releasing the footage was that because of the evidence it had releasing it may taint a future jury pool. Yes he was significantly taller than Samantha according to them. But that leaves doors open - Samantha is 5'5" - how do you define significantly taller? That could be 6' tall - which is not (to me) significantly taller.

The whole CB thing I am not buying. If he ends up behind bars imo it won't be for this, but he has already been behind bars for a burglarly a couple of years ago. He also has custody of his daughter. They have been too loud mouthed (his mother and him) to be involved I think. Plus he had an alibi, he was home eating when she was taken with family and friends)

Has it been determined when IK got to TX? I just dont see him bringing his daughter along if he had SK.

Also, where did he and his family go on Feb 2 for 2 weeks? Would you bring your daughter and gf with you if you had kidnapped someone?

So weird.

He doeesn't have a restraining order against him. Samantha didn't turn up to the court because according to her father she was scared. According to his mother it was because they actually had a relationship while Samantha was dating Duane (her now boyfriend) and things got nasty and Samantha filed a RO. We have since found out that Samantha would earn a little extra money by driving CB around to drop off or pick up drugs (depends which story you read). CB knows Duane (the BF) and her stepbrother that lives with her mother (I think it is the mothers boyfriends son).
