David Ibarra, a senior airman in the U.S. Air Force was allegedly asking a 9-year-old girl living on Long Island to send him sexually explicit images in exchange for money, according to the U.S. DOJ.

David Ibarra, 31, who is stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, was brought to federal court on Long Island Wednesday morning, March 26, on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, coercion and enticement, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Committing serious crimes as a member of the US military is far more risky than committing the same crimes as "John Q. Public".

Not only are federal sentences far longer (must serve 85%), but Uncle Sam always has enough prosecutors. Likewise, experienced specialist prosecutors for any crime category are just a phone call away.

And.... Uncle Sam is evidently not a generous plea bargainer at all when dealing with sex crimes. Rather, he always has enough prison space available for a uhhmm..... "extended stay" regarding such charges.
