Fox6 News has obtained a copy of the warrant against Richard Shahan. In the warrant, Shahan is accused of "stabbing and cutting the victim with an unknown object." The warrant also claims Karen Louise Shahan was killed "on or about" July 22. Karen Shahan's body was discovered on July 23, when Richard Shahan claims he was visiting his son in Kentucky.

With our not having the official time of death(TOD) per the ME I just wanted to narrow the window of time down as much as possible with the teeny amount of information that we do have.

Monday, July 22 8:00pm-
Hobby Lobby in Wildwood, Al closed .

Monday, July 22 About 8:30pm-
Karen Shahan closed the store that evening and as a manager of the flower dept likely completed any closing duties with her reportedly leaving the store at approx. 8:30pm

Tuesday, July 23 Before 10:00am-
Hobby Lobby opens for business at 10:00am and Karen Shahan was scheduled to work the opening shift that morning. This would have had her due to arrive shortly before 10am(but IMO as early as say, 9:00am solely dependant upon what exactly she had to do that particular morning in prepping for her floral dept to open for business at 10am)

**Other info/details that may help narrow down the window of time between Monday 8:30pm and Tuesday morning before 10:00am**
~We know there is time elapsed after Monday, 8:30pm when she left Hobby Lobby due to her having made the trip home from work(under 5mile distance btwn work and home).. <<It is due to the next detail below that we are able to establish her having safely made it home from work>>

~We know that Karen Shahan was found to have been dressed for bed when her body was found.. This indicates more elapsed time after she left the Hobby Lobby at 8:30pm, Monday, made the short trip home from work, and had the time to have come in from work and at the very least we know for certain change from her work clothes into her sleeping attire..

~The other detail has been reported from very early on and comes from more than one neighbor of the Shahan's..it is the neighbors all having referred to Karen being murdered Monday night.. Several of us remarked that this quite likely is information that the neighbors learned of in each being interviewed by investigators.

~ And then last, but certainly not least is the detail that IMO most points to possibly when Karen was murdered.. The neighbor's reporting hearing a loud noise coming from the Shahan residence about 10:45pm, Monday night.
------------------------------------------

As I said so, so very little information that we have to work with.. So, given the above window of time marked by 8:30pm Karen's last being seen alive when leaving Hobby Lobby..and then marked by the 10:00am open for business we know Karen was scheduled to work, therefor due to arrive at some point shortly before 10:00am..

In going with the murder being overnight Monday, IMO I find it easy to assume that we can safely cut out the post-dawn morning hours of Tuesday, July 23.. Also IMO I find it reasonable that Karen Shahan did NOT speed straight home, rush into her home, and go directly to her room and immediately change into her sleep attire..while I admit most anythings possible given we have so very little info, but again just in my own opinion I find it more reasonable that there was a lapse of a couple hours of time after Monday, 8:30pm when she left work, that would account for and include getting and/or eating a late dinner, bath or shower, and any number of other daily/nightly routine occurrences that Karen IMO most likely did upon arriving home, up to the point in time when she had actually gotten dressed in her sleep attire.

Taking into account one of the last slivers of info that we have, IMO is what narrows it down to what I strongly believe to be the closest to her time of death.. The neighbor's reporting of having heard a loud noise from the residence around 10:45pm..

With all of that said and noted I come to believe that its most likely between 10:30-11:30pm, Monday, July 22nd when Karen was killed..

All jmo, tho and please feel free to correct, edit, or add to any of the dates, times, or info in this post :)

Shahan's attorneys chose not to hold a preliminary hearing because, under the circumstances, the case was headed to a grand jury whether testimony was presented or not.

"Our understanding is that regardless of what happened today the state of Alabama planned to take the case to a grand jury," John Lentine said after the hearing.
