Birmingham police are searching for a man missing since Tuesday morning.

The man, 58-year-old Alphonzo Dewayne Isom Jr., of Birmingham, was last seen wearing a long sleeve gray sweater with green coloring and light blue jeans, police said. He was also wearing a fleece jacket, black cap and white athletic shoes.

He is a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He stands 6-feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds, police said.

He was last seen around 11 a.m. Tuesday near his residence at the 1200 block of 14th Place S.W. Police said Isom walks with a limp and drags his right leg when he walks. Police also say he has been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder.

Officers have searched for him, but their efforts have been unsuccessful.

Human skull found in east Birmingham city landfill

Birmingham police spokesman Sgt. Rod Mauldin said a human skull was found while workers were clearing an area for expansion of the landfill.

It’s too soon to tell whether foul play was involved, or how long the remains have been there.

Body found floating in water at Birmingham Water Works facility on Sicard Hollow Road
Water Works spokesman Rick Jackson said the body was found in an intake basin. He confirmed the victim is a black male.

23-year-old ID'd as body found in Water Works intake basin
A man found dead at a Birmingham Water Works facility Tuesday morning has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Leonard Docquan Bennett. He was 23 and lived in Birmingham.

There haven't been any updates on Mr. Isom that I could find. I hope he made it home safely.
