I’m amazed they were able to keep it hush, hush from 6:30 AM!

They sure are quiet...for a long time now it seems...

I’m also local, same county as this girl. I’ve lurked here for years trying to stay up to date on several cold cases I can’t let go of but this is my first time posting. I am sick to death. This is SUCH a quite area, you never imagine something like this happening. There is so much anger locally because the LE won’t tell us if there is foul play or not. This is the kind of place you give kids a lot more freedom than people in cities probably do and now all of us are hyper vigilant and scared. I feel like the only reason they wouldn’t let our community know if it’s foul play or not is because they’re trying not to scare off a suspect.

This investigation sounds very active and fresh so I’m thinking LE will speak as soon as they are able. They still have to find, collect, process evidence...they might not have all the answers as of yet. This is unfolding in real time. Hang in there. I know what it’s like to be in your shoes and it’s scary (understatement). Remember, LE wants to catch the bad guys as much, if not more than we do.

I wonder if there were multiple witnesses to the green SUV in the driveway. Yes, we’re all assuming the witness to the vehicle was the uncle working on the neighbor’s yard, but perhaps another witness was at the home, maybe another child? Maybe the neighbor whose driveway/yard was being worked on? Etc.

JMO, on why I don’t think the green SUV is a red herring, although I can understand being skeptical of any reports bc we’ve all seen cases where people have thrown out red herrings to hide involvement.

IF LE says in the next PC that “the community must remain vigilant”, then that’s not a good sign as to the status on if they have a suspect, moo. It also indicates the potential of a dangerous predator on the loose, imo.

It's 6:20 here in NC and there is enuff light to see a person's approx. height, clothing, hair & skin color, etc. Maybe a neighbor or Amberly's aunt had an outside camera or perhaps a neighbor saw something to help. License tag, etc. Let's hope. Maybe the aunt or her family has a suspect -- someone new in the area or hanging around the school bus stop, a yard- or repair-man, etc.

A lot of times when they don't say there is any danger it is because the suspect is already in custody or they suspect someone who knew the victim. Not always, of course, but this could be a case where they are holding someone in jail for a lesser crime and trying to build a case connecting that person to Amberly's death. Or perhaps they are questioning a suspect and hoping that person will crack and confess. In those cases where they have a strong suspect already-- the less info they give out the better as it means the person who did it will not know what LE knows. All the police need is for someone to slip up in an interview and say something that has not been publicly released. I hope that is what is going on right now. I hope the perp has slipped up somewhere and that the community has nothing to fear.

1) this is a very targeted abduction.
2) there never was a green SUV leaving the driveway.

It really could be either.

Adding to my first thought-

If Amberly was abducted by someone pulling up in an SUV, that perp would be mobile and make every effort to hide the body where it would not be easily found.

LE found her body very quickly.
