Have the police actually come out and said it was murder?

Just dumping my heartsick observations here as a foster mom and long time child welfare advocate: The sad truth is that the circumstances of this child's life make her a prime target for predators. This is not blame. The combination of transitory, unstable/shifting/changing parental oversight, early access to social media, traumatic family history...predators look for these things and pounce. Again, absolutely not blame on anyone except sick predators that look for "weak" targets. MOO but backed up by lots of observation and reading.

Agreed. We recently saw how SLP was a perfect example of this:

Well, that was disappointingly sparse :(.

It is probably just basic info, put on the funeral home site, by the funeral home. There may be more added later on by family.

Probably incomplete and the funeral home probably was contacted and as part of their service provided this but since they don't have all the details they are limited. No reflection on the family.

The investigation could very well involve multiple jurisdictions and possibly 2 states. That takes a ton of work administratively to get everything done properly and ensure whatever they find will hold up in court. It’s so very sad. I’m grateful her parents can put her to rest.

I just heard about this case today. So incredibly sad. From what I have read, it sounds like her mother was going through some hard times. No mention of the father. I saw the Instagram photos and I wondered about those. She seems a little young to have an Instagram page (two of them). She wears a lot of make up in her photos so, to me, she appears a little older. Strange that LE has not released any other information. No suspects? Her life was cut way too short. RIP Amberly.

No. Manner of Death and Cause of Death have not been released. As I stated upstream re: that link, they need to be made aware of their irresponsible headline if anyone wants to volunteer.

Missing 11-year-old Alabama girl found dead, sheriff says
She said in a telephone interview that she had little information.

“We don’t know anything,” she said Sunday. “They are doing the autopsy. We will get the results tomorrow.”

So autopsy in progress and results tomorrow. As anticipated.

Also from the above link for reference:

“The search began immediately after the call came in to the sheriff’s office at 7 p.m. Friday, and continued throughout the night, growing in manpower and spreading to nearby Cherokee County and into Georgia, the sheriff said at an earlier press conference.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and DeKalb County investigators responded to the search, he said.

A Mount Vernon resident told WAAY31 that crime of this kind rarely, if ever, happens in the area, which is about 25 miles northeast of the city of Gadsden, Alabama.

“It was shocking. You don’t hear nothing about that around here,” Terry Clanton told WAAY31, describing Mount Vernon as a close-knit community.“

Besides, it is not likely the obituary would include any of the tragic details of how this poor young girl passed away.

This is feeling more and more like self harm.

I must have missed something. Why do you think that? :(
Has there been something in MSM about that?

Of course not. I was hoping to read about what she was like, what she liked to do, etc.

Same here (just posted the same thing above). Hopefully we will soon.

I'm sure it will be an @CNN or @MSNBC article. Amazing what some believe
Such a sad case. I’m sure that small community must be in shock and overcome with grief.
