After following many, many cases I understand that LE rarely shares everything they know with the public. Sometimes we need to be a little patient.

This is just my opinion and may not be shared by others, but I don't feel that LE is obligated to share everything that they know with us. What if for instance, LE has some info about the case but are still questioning people that they feel may have been involved. Perhaps they don't want these people to know that they are aware of certain information as it may alter the info they receive during questioning.

We don't have any idea what is really going on behind the scenes. I don't want there to be any chance of a compromised investigation. I'm much more concerned that they focus on a top notch investigation and are able fully prosecute the responsible party. I want them to cross all their "T's" and dot all their "I's" to make sure this monster is never going to hurt another child.

Exactly. Well said, LaborDayRN.

It is a subject that can be gone into at length no doubt. I can actually contribute to it if it becomes a conversation. In this case, many thought the pictures online had something to do with it.

Yet the perp was right next door and has charges from his own "honey""woman" etc. This girl could have probably been alone, hair uncombed and no make-up and it would have made no difference...

He does not strike me as the "online" type but I guess that is judgmental based on my just looking at his ugly mugshot.

Re. the bolded section : Well.... fairly certain LE will go through his computer activity and discover further 'darkness'.

But I agree with what you're saying !
Also -- a 'few sandwiches short of a picnic'.

It wouldn't be surprising if he has other child victims in his past.. not necessarily murdered ones, but victims nonetheless.

Feeling so sad for this bright young girl and all of her life still ahead of her !
Why should he have a life --even one behind bars ?
He could live until his late 80's. Just not fair.

You have no idea how much I agree with you. Like her mother said, take me instead. That is a human emotion. He took a life for his own very like selfish purposes like his pathetic as* matters more.

I have to settle down now...

I can also give you my VFW number if you want it.

It’s best to private message a moderator, none of this should be discussed on the bd about being an insider. Just trying to help you out so you don’t get off on the wrong foot with mods

Very good question.
Some women will put up with a man's behavior for odd reasons.
Or maybe, she didn't want to 'lose her man '?

Other possibilities --- One would think she'd be happy to throw him out-- but maybe he threatened to kill her ?
Obviously he's not afraid to murder.

Wonder if he's done other crimes or killed before ?
Usually money, no where else to go, or death threats, I'll kill you if you leave me....that sort of thing. Rarely because they are okay with it.

#Breaking: Christopher Madison is charged with capital murder in 11-year-old Amberly Barnett's death, says Sheriff Nick Welden.

Here's the suspect's mugshot:

Well we knew that was coming. Thank goodness for the arrest.

So noting for the record his inmate record changed as follows:

1. No initial charges listed (yesterday afternoon) and was originally “held for agency” with a booking time of around 8:30 the previous night.

2. Updated to Possession of a Controlled Substance (last night)
—we see this so commonly, initially being held on unrelated charges, often possession.

3. Updated to Capital Murder today.

—-

So it all was going down how we figured it was going down. LE’s lack of message to the community to be vigilant, etc was because they knew they had their guy.

They also mobilized and had their support systems in place at her school, and waited for autopsy results to come back.

Also noting they did publicly disclose COD, as suspect is in custody.

Meantime the community was understandably worried.

Seems like a successful effort and outcome by LE. Victim recovered and suspect in custody and charged.

When is his hearing?
(Still behind, disregard question, I’ve learned to finish reading before asking a question as it could already be addressed downstream.)

ETA:
Noting: 200 yards, quite a cry from other distances initially floating around on SM as fact (once again).

ETA2:
I’m assuming there was never a green SUV? If so, turns out it’s similar to the “fishing pole” in Dylan R’s case, which I believe my exact words there were “And there you have it folks, there aint’ no damn fishin’ pole”.

You know, since the day of Jon Benet Ramsey and probably way earlier in life this has been a conversation. I want to dance carefully around it. I think a child should be a child but on the other hand if by what age they do not have a phone, do not play these games online, do not dress in this way (it gets younger and younger), they are then often bullied or picked on for not fitting in. That actually goes for boys as well.

Talking about makeup or dressing up is another thing or side conversation to that. In an ideal world, an adult should recognize that for what it is. In no way does it mean a young girl or your babysitter if she is experimenting with makeup or dressed up for a dance is she is ready for something or trying to appeal to some old creep or even a young one. And those types would misread anything because they are not "right". Yet there are those that exist like that and always have and always will. Nothing will change that, and as someone said, in most cases, it would not matter what the child looked like.

All that being said, I feel let a kid be a kid and do not introduce makeup and clothing that is too adult, I truly do. Yet a 🤬🤬🤬 adult male looking at any child that way in makeup or not??? Especially when they have children?? That is THEIR problem and nothing will fix them...

Sorry for the rant and not sure I am within TOS but I tried...

I agree, unfortunately. It is not victim blaming to point out trends and facts. My parents met over homicides, their careers, one a detective, the other a homocide reporter....unfortunately a lot of sexual predators do take extra notice, or are aroused by, young girls in precocious outfits or makeup. Not the victims' fault in the slightest. But is it a fact, yes it is.

Welcome to small town U.S.A. I told you about their professionalism.
I'm sorry. You've had nothing good to say about LE from the get go. And now you say something you never should have repeated. That's unprofessional on your part, too.

More stay than leave, sadly.

I’m sorry, but I can’t remember what grade she was in. My daughters dances starting I think in the 5th grade, all the girls looked like this. And the boys, well, sorry...they looked like pimps. SORRY! IMO!

I am not talking about LE in general, just this department and how they handled the situation because I live in this city. He could have said a little more, you have no idea the family members I have lost because due to poor investigations. I might add, I deserve the right to criticize an organization I was once apart of and went to war for everyone’s right to criticize. Wrong is wrong!

Just heard about the arrest now. I had a feeling that LE may have had a suspicion of who was involved and wanted to wait for DNA results prior to making an arrest. I am SO confused.....sounds like this is the boyfriend of the Aunt? I thought the Aunt was married, but now postings are saying he is the boyfriend? Is this the man who was on the roof doing some repairs? His record shows a violent past. Arrested with drugs! Plus, he has children of his own! I am just so confused as to his relationship with the family. IF the family knew him, why would they allow him to be around ANY children. Seriously, what is wrong with the men who commit these horrible acts. He will probably say he was on drugs and doesn't remember anything. What else can be his defense....especially if DNA connects him. In the meantime, he gets 3 meals a day, a bed to sleep in and his day in court. Amberly will never see it past 11 years old. RIP Sweet Amberly.

I have family in DeKalb, Fulton and Cobb County. (GA). I am aware of the crime rate but I avoid “crack city”and other known areas. There are pockets of criminal element in counties everywhere in my opinion.

The issue is this 🤬🤬🤬. Did no one know him? Why expose yourself, your children AND other children to him? I just don’t understand.

Evil can be next door in the safest city.

Honestly, if someone is reared by parents who make poor choices, they often are ill-equipped to make good ones themselves when they become parents. Add in substance abuse, poverty, unresolved trauma that leads to attachment issues....recipe for disaster.

Are there any unsolved child abductions/murders in the nearby area? Or wherever else he has lived?

If you backtrack through the last several pages it should clear things up.
Amberly’s aunt has a boyfriend/husband (?) and his sister lives next door in another trailer. Christopher Madison is the boyfriend of the sister. No blood relation to Amberly

The loose family connection hasn’t been posted on MSM we only know the name of the arrested man , the Aunt etc haven’t been named so it’s difficult to reply to people asking who he is , it’s a complicated connection. We can’t really explain without breaking terms on here I think

So TRUE

There are lots of pics with an older 14-15 year old cousin who wore makeup and took ‘alluring’ snapchat photos ... she looks like a woman. So clearly he preferred the more boyish figure, immature and innocent victim who was naive.
I agree the child was copying the older girls actions and behaviors in photos but one only has to watch and listen to that voice in the video with her younger brother to realize how truly innocent and naive this child was ... I’m sick and I’m furious. I know her mother believed she was doing the right thing by leaving her there - thought she would be safe and protected but I can’t believe no one knew what this psycho was doing to his girlfriend next door!!! I think I would be screaming if someone was pushing a pencil into my ear! Wth!!!
