I feel like I needed more than just a witness, surveillance camera, and her blood to put out the warrant out like they did. They knew he was the one who hurt her without a doubt.. the only way they had no doubt would be physical proof, like dna, or pictures videos something more than what we would know...

That's what the affidavit is for, There is no mention of his DNA in the affidavit and it was enough for the warrant.

<mod snip: SM of non POIs cannot be discussed>

Imagine if you had access with a warrant, to monitor the FB feeds of all of the friends? There might be some solid info to use against him. Maybe not the intention at all but the public stuff was pretty bad. The discussions that were available between friends would have been, IMO, gold.

Hopefully the location settings from his phone can trace exactly where he went after abducting her and can help with guiding the search.

Not to mention reading his texts/messages to see who he was communicating with that night.

I don’t think he is going to give up any info. It’s going to have to be someone who knows him that comes clean.

I just HAVE to think that his DNA wasn’t in the car. If it was idk why they would have asked social media/the public to make a positive ID. There was an article that said SM had him identified in less than an hour. They immediately put out a warrant. I would think if they already knew who he was instead of putting out the photos asking for help on identifying they would have already had the warrant & put out a statement & photos of him being wanted for kidnapping Aniah. Even if their goal was to “flush him out” both of those things would accomplish the same thing. So, I have to think they really didn’t know...bc DNA would have pegged him immediately. I also think they would have accompanied his previous mug shot(s) with the surveillance photos bc they’re not good quality at all. IMO.

I think LE knew who he was as soon as, or shortly after viewing the surveillance at the Chevron. They intentionally cut the video so it did not show the person at the door. Also, remember, they had ALL of the footage of who was in the store. Because Aniah's car was found in Montgomery, they would have shared the video with MPD. MPD knows IY. They were looking for him to question him, but couldn't find him. My guess is that as soon as it went National and the video from Chevron was released, IY went into hiding. I have no doubt that the witness is an accomplice that they found while looking for IY. They put IY on blast to flush him out, and, it worked. There are definitely more people involved.

Interesting theory on the witness..hmm. I'm going to ponder on that for a bit

I can’t follow what you are saying...
an informant?
Good point but let's just say he slid by and wanst in the database because let's be honest, it isn't off based that an informant like him wasn't entered.. so the DNA might have ping them immediately it might have been the brother of a brother cuz I'm pretty sure somebody in his family is in that database and that takes a little bit more time 2 without a doubt match him than people would think
.. I just don't see how there could possibly be that much blood in there and 100% indicated harm and life threating injuries and his DNA not being there.. there's no way he put on gloves and used a sterilize something to harm get right there.... Frisbee and are not to be found in that car, on the outside of the car wherever it may be but I feel like I needed more than just a witness, surveillance camera, and her blood to put out the warrant out like they did. I firmly believe the only reason he was out on bond with his criminal history is because he was an informant. I truly can't comprehend how someone who wasn't would have been bonded out to commit this crime. And the informats feel invincible because they know they have info to cases that was worth something..

When they finally released the security camera photo, SM blew up with positive IDs.

Releasing the photo worked and LE was tipped. Once they matched the jacket in the footage with the same jacket in his SM profile pic and the other kidnapping criminal history, it was definitely enough for an arrest warrant.

I don’t believe they really knew who he was before releasing the photo. In my opinion, it was a mistake to wait for so long before releasing it...

It’s a bit surprising with all of the agencies assisting with the investigation. I can’t quite wrap my head around that fact.

If they didn't have DNA from the car, which I am now leaning towards.. WHY didnt they?? It had to be there... I mean, this guy wasn't bright so I doubt he didn't leave his trace... So why or how couldnt they have found it... And then why wouldn't they have ran it through the database and gotten his name sooner?

I don’t know. If he did leave any DNA they simply didn’t find it.

It’s also possible that they do have hair strands or clothing fibers etc, but could not match them to him until he was in custody.

It’s just terribly hard and speculative to say.

I hope they find AB soon and can pin more tangible evidence, such as dna, on him afterwards.

It’s certainly a confusing case which leaves many many questions.

I just hope LE has a ton of information that the public isn’t privy to.

I see your point. I was just thinking if they knew who he was & just wanted to talk to him, why ask for help identifying him? It didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, at least. I would think that he’s committed so many crimes that if they found DNA, it would have been easy to find a name...especially, like you said, having Montgomery involved & him being a frequent flyer there. I guess I didn’t understand the point of originally asking for help to ID him bc they want to speak with him if they already knew who he was...if that makes sense. & someone else said something about with that much of her blood in the car, he had to have left some sort of DNA trace. I agree but like I said the sequence of events kinda throw me off. They have their reasons, I suppose...

Hope someone knows more about being arrested than me  ( working in a police station) when is DNA taken? If DNA is taken after conviction,. he may not have been in the system. Sounds like all early charges were dropped. He was out on bond,. but had not gone to trial yet. If aDNA sample is taken at booking he should be in the system. I just don't know protocol.

@AZlawyer , is it constitutional or standard practice to take an accused’s DNA upon arrest?

All things being considered, I bet his DNA isn’t currently in a database anywhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed the discussions today. Let’s pray that tomorrow brings better news. It’s bed time for me in my part of the world. Goodnight all.

I would like to know how IY was acquainted with those he kidnapped with the others in 2018. I also would like to know who the 4th unamed person was.

I can’t figure out really who his “gang” was. At first I thought maybe he was a part of Crum Nation based on this post and who he is apparently thanking for bonding him out. Bro Skee
(Curious what his bond was then)

If he was Crum Nation, how did his accomplices fit in to the picture in 2018?

Looking back at how they fit, the connection, gang ties, etc is one way I would think to guess who he may have been with to abduct AB.

Looks like dna is taken upon arrest and convicted/or arrested. I think that means must be convicted?

ADFS maintains the state of Alabama’s DNA Databank laboratory in Birmingham. The DNA Databank laboratory is responsible for the collection, storage, and analysis of biological samples recovered from individuals arrestedand/or convicted of all felonies and certain misdemeanors, as specified in the Code of Alabama 1975 § 36-18-20 and1975 § 15-20A-5 et seq
