Based on the Dr. Phil interview, Aniah's parents think she was set up by someone who knows her well. The parents have more info than we do (assuming you don't have more info). The police and DA have had very few press conferences, and haven't released many details. TEC came for 9 days, asked for a helicopter and boat, and abruptly left the same day. LE said there will be more arrests but haven't announced any more arrests. This violent offender was let out on bail in the first place. Sunday afternoon hearing for IY at which a gag order was put into place. Nope, nothing weird about this case.
Thanks for the explanation makes sense

"The I'm with Eric, I just met him," might not be that unusual for a college kid. The roommate might be thinking, "OK, I know when to but out." ... or at least that might be what a perp would think (assuming he sent the text). He might be thinking it gives cover for her being out all night. With a famous stepfather she could have been a ransom target. If she was predictable in her routine, the Chevron might have been the place they knew she would be. If IY is a loyal grunt for his gang, they would be the accomplices, and hard to get for LE. This doesn't rule out a "friend" accomplice. He or she could have been coerced through drug issues. In this scenario AB could still be alive. We don't know what type of blood evidence LE found. If it was something like spatter from a gunshot or a vicious punch there is a chance it wasn't fatal. If they got her to Montgomery quickly they may have kept her alive for the ransom.

Walt fights in the ufc, but I promise 9/10 people who watch the ufc don’t know who he is.
It’s more likely that people in their area know of her father, who I believe was labeled a “local businessman”

I pray she is found before the preliminary hearing. If they do not have DNA evidence I am worried they will give him bail.
I hope they have a lot more than we know about. In no way do I think he’s not involved, but just being in the gas station at the same time she was and then an eyewitness report (we don’t know how credible) is not enough, IMO. This is why I’m not surprised at all that he hasn’t talked, much less revealed her location. There is, so far, very little that ties him to this crime at all. Desperately hoping there’s more.

Could he have just been posted up there waiting for any random good looking auburn student to prey on?

Good chance of this, if it is considered to be planned. Driving around the general area looking for his prey, looking for that vulnerable girl. And when he stopped at the Chevron - for whatever reason - voila, look who walked in. A beautiful vulnerable girl.

The Eric angle could play into this. Why did the roommate not say "who the heck is Eric"? Or "a new guy, where did you find him?" Or "are you bringing him back here now, do I get to meet him?"
I can't quite work it out, but there is something about this 'Eric'.

I still can't get past the statement that I posted much earlier that gangs are now getting involved in sex trafficking in Alabama.

Sex trafficking has also risen in recent years among street gangs in Alabama with ties to Georgia, Florida, and even the West Coast, according to Teresa Collier at the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

My tho
This is my first comment on this site. This is how I think it all played out, but is my opinion only:

I think it was a planned crime (robbery, carjacking and/or rape) but the victim was random. In one of IY’s prior robberies, he only got $40 from someone so there isn’t a huge wealth criteria to be his victim (this makes sense because Aniah wasn’t carrying a purse, drove a “normal” car and may not have appeared super wealthy).

Yazeed was possibly staying in a local hotel or w/ friends/other gang members. He either (a) walked to the Chevron OR (b) he and a friend drove the grey car. IY saw AB and decided she would be the victim and he forced her into her car at Chevron.

A witness saw the kidnapping. It was possibly the person in the grey car (assuming (a) above). They left the store before going inside. Cashier saw the grey car and AB’s car leave. He/she assumed IY was in the grey car b/c maybe he was the only other customer in the store at that time. This accounts for the first reports of IY leaving in a grey car. OR (if (b) above) the friend left in the grey car, and again, it was assumed that IY was driving. OR the witness was the cashier (LE said witness was outside to protect cashier’s identity) or it was just someone driving by/stopped at a light. Who it was really isn’t important, just trying to account for the mysterious grey car.

IY took AB to where he was staying or to a deserted location (friend possibly followed in grey car). During the drive, she fought, he hit something and it caused the car damage.

Snapchat messages – AB got a message from her roommate and AB told him she needed to text back or the roommate would call her parents. IY didn’t want to alert her friend so he let AB text her back. AB texted back with cryptic message about “Eric” knowing her roommate would not know that name and/or would think it is unusual. This would not alert IY to anything but could possibly alert suspicion in her roommate. Roommate said she was going to bed and AB knew her hint didn’t work. “I’m so, so sorry. I love you too” could actually be a message to her family (something that wouldn’t be too obvious for IY). Her phone was then turned off.

Within one hour, she was beaten, robbed and/or raped (possibly by more than IY) in Auburn. Perhaps, IY discovered her step-dad is a pro-fighter. Instead of leaving her alive (as in the other cases), he panicked and thought he needed to kill her so she couldn’t identify him. Or maybe her beating was so bad that it killed her unintentionally. Or maybe he killed her on purpose.

He put her in the passenger seat in her car and drove toward Montgomery (friend possibly followed in grey car). She was dumped in the forest on the way to Montgomery or in the Alabama River (I believe there was a former victim that never came forward who was threatened with being thrown in the AL River). He left her car at an apartment complex. A friend picked him up or he went with the friend in the grey car.
Exactly what I was thinking.

MOO she had been communicating with someone she thought was eric. Possibly she told him her plans for the evening , and was taken for other reasons. When she fought back, they had to come up with another plan. Many more involved

“The Defense asks that, prior to accepting the bald allegations of the State's motion, the Court require the State to prove its allegations with evidence. Moreover, the Defendant prays the Court will consider the long and repeated history of wrongful charges against this Defendant when considering bond in this case."

This actually makes me kind of nervous. Sounds like they may need to produce some real evidence soon.

Is it possible that IY is repeatedly thrown out there as the fall guy, knowing there won’t be much/any hard evidence and he’ll walk while someone else does the real crime? Could he have been sent into the Chevron specifically to get his face on camera, and then an accomplice actually abducted/assaulted her? Hoping it’s not that complicated, but this is a LOT of crimes to just walk away from.

I know the Harris family wants to hold up all hope for their daughter. I just do not see how this was planned.IY had no way of knowing she was going to stop at that convenience store that night.
i sort of agree; however, when they made the statement of there are tips that suggest she was setup. Just knowing that we dont have all the facts exposed to us vs what they are being told then I will default to them. In fact they stopped short by saying they cant discuss the details. We have no idea what those tips and details are outside of just guessing. The dots have to be closer to connect for them then what we know as just viewers.

I don't use snapchat so I don't know if it has the ability to show your location. I do know that apple has "find friends" or something, that does show locations. "IF" a friend was involved it makes sense that they would have had to use something like this to be "tracking" her. I just wonder if there would be a record of someone locating her via those methods? I still lean towards the idea this guy just has a sick idea of fun and kidnapping happens to be his fun. Aniah was just unlucky when she crossed paths with him. I pray no friend was involved, how horrible is that to imagine? It is already terrible enough as is.

I mentioned similar thoughts earlier before IY was identified. Once IY was seen on camera, I thought that I was wrong and it was random. The key is why was IY IN AUBURN? Was IY visiting a person/employee at the store or nearby?(in cahoots?) Did he ever go to Skybar or SouthEastern on Wednesday nights? Did IY know a maintenance man at her apartment complex or a shuttle bus driver? Remember IY wasn’t the mastermind, he’s more muscle. I believe he was told to get/take Aniah but by whom???? I never thought the name Eric would be common among IY’s friends but I have seen a few on social media accounts. There is a Skybar in Montgomery too. Can these bars or employees/bouncers/owner be related? There is a connection somewhere. Just throwing out random possible connections because True...I don’t think IY and AB would be in same social circle. Moo

I don’t think it’s ever been confirmed that she had a date. This was most widely pushed by the friend on Twitter and she seems really questionable. I would think LE has already spoken with her, but if not, they probably should.
You mind sharing the tweet you are referencing? I am not aware of that piece of information.

Is it possible he was set up too....as much as I don't want to say this.
But, seriously is he that stupid? To be 'in' the chevron in cctv?
sadly, yes; he is probably just that stupid. Nothing he has been caught doing is that of a criminal mastermind. He just uses brute force and attack unsuspecting people. If this trails back to her acquaintances i would imagine once the heat starts coming for them they will fold like a cheap suit. We are talking college kids here who are generally soft. If this is indeed a setup by one of her friends then they better hope the cost they paid is enough to keep IY quiet because I highly doubt once he sees an out/a deal to cut for less time he is going to take it.

That was out there in the earliest days. Don't think that is shareable here.

I just thought of this. IY was found in Florida. How did he get there? I presume he drove. Have they found that car? He was found near a hotel. If( and this is a big if) he registered at hotel, he would have to give the tag number of the car he was driving.
I never do that. Never asked for tag in years.

I’ve seen mixed things about sharing things from this person, especially more recently. Someone please let me know if this is against the rules, but here is a news article that includes both her name and her tweet.
