Clarke County Sheriff investigating disappearance of cousins last seen in Thomasville

...SBM

Bobbie La’Keshia Mobley’s daughter Shartavia Austin says the family last saw 41-year-old Keshia and 57-year-old Barbara Johnson on Friday, June 18 in a green SUV in Thomasville. The two women are cousins.

Austin said she spoke with her mom, Keshia on the phone on Saturday, June 19 around 5 p.m. but haven’t heard from either of them since then.

Investigators said the last sign of Keisha or Barbara was a transaction made in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20. They say neither of their cell phones have been used in days and their families haven not been in contact with either of the women.

Friends and family have been sharing pictures of Keshia and Barbara daily hoping to find information.

If you have any information that would help investigators bring the women home call the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office at (251) 275-4254.

The women often take trips together, but as witnesses report, they’ve always checked in with their families and employers within a day.

“The last contact we have was a pinged phone (off a cell tower) in Mobile,” Floyd said. “And since then, it’s been cut off. They have not made any contact with their families or anybody else since.”

Johnson’s daughter, Dashielle Dukes, works as a clerk in the law office of attorney Gil Gilmore in Grove Hill. She said Friday that she speaks to her mother, Barbara, at least once a day.

“I know they came through here Friday in the green SUV,” Dukes said. “Then I was told by investigator that Bobbie’s bank card was used in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20.

If the women made that transaction in Cincinnati, I wonder if they could be headed to Niagara Falls. Cinci is sort of a midpoint.

I hope they are just on a road trip, but it seems out of character to not communicate with family.

bumping for more local eyes in the area

I wonder if there's video of the Cincy purchase?

Looking further, the SUV is not new. I can't imagine that someone would want to drive it such a great distance. And one of the women worked at a clothing store. I'm not sure that she would have had loads of cash to accommodate a long impromptu trip. As others have said, I'd like to know if it was them making the transaction in Ohio. Because I'm thinking no.

Were the ladies heading to ohio??
It sounds like their usual mo is to keep everyone updated on their travels.

bumping - just as important as anyone else who is missing. Their families must be so frustrated and sad

I of course hope they are off on an adventure, but it seems out of character for them. I’m not sure if that makes adventure more or less likely? One of them could have convinced the other? I rarely think that is how it will turn out but I like to keep hope.

I would believe these two fun-loving, travel bugs would leave Thomasville to head to Mobile. I'd also believe they would be the type of women who'd say "Let's go to Cincy", then they'd go. I would even believe they might leave there to head to some other unknown place for their enjoyment. But, I don't believe they would have done any of that without notifying someone or that they'd be out of contact with their loved ones. I tend to believe they likely met with foul play. I don't think they went to Ohio by choice, if they even left AL. So, whose path(s) did they cross and does this person/these people have a connection to Cincinnati? Hopefully investigators are looking at video in and around Thomasville and Mobile. Maybe they'll be able to catch them chatting with someone at a diner, store, or other public place. Please also let there be clear CC video in Ohio where that bank card transaction happened.

My thoughts and prayers are with Keshia, Barbara and their loved ones.

Did you happen to find LE or MSM information on the make and model of the vehicle? All I've seen is it's a "green SUV".

Nothing from a source that I can share. I don't know why they haven't been more specific. They should have the make, model and plate number. I have seen photos of the vehicle taken before they vanished.

Gotcha! That's what I thought. Yeah, it's rather odd a more detailed description wasn't provided in the media release. We'll keep waiting. ;)

I can't believe there is no follow up by LE on this case (that I can find, anyway).

It's been a MONTH and....nothing????

It makes one wonder what the silence is about. Do the police know that this was voluntary? Are they staying quiet while investigating? Or do they just not care? I don't want to leap to conclusions. But we clearly do not live in a society that values all people equally. If they were 7-year-old golden-haired kids, this thread would be nine miles long.

I don't see family on SM much either. There's not even a FB page for them is there?
