An Alabama woman, who was attacked by a pack of dogs in April, died from her injuries on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

On April 28, Michele Sheeks was walking along County Highway 11 in Red Bay, Alabama, when she was attacked, according to a civil complaint that was filed in June.

Days later, Alabama Department of Public Health employee Jaqueline Beard attempted to follow up on the incident when she was allegedly attacked by the same pack of dogs and died from her injuries, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said in a statement at the time.

As officials approached, the dogs attacked again. During the frenzy, some of the dogs were "euthanized immediately," the sheriff's office said.

Brandy Dowdy, 39, who allegedly owns the dogs, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with Beard's death, according to the sheriff's office.

Moo...'pack' of dogs being the problem..the dogs act more feral when in groups...like humans sometimes do....amazing the dogs were not removed after the first attack. Very sad

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Red Bay woman facing manslaughter charges after her dogs allegedly attacked two women was set to appear in a Franklin County courtroom on Tuesday for a pretrial hearing.

But, during roll call at the courthouse on Tuesday morning, the judge went through 200 names on the docket – and Brandy Dowdy’s was not one of them. When News 19 spoke with Franklin County District Attorney Jeff Barksdale, he said the hearing was very unlikely to happen Tuesday because of Dowdy’s health condition.

[...]

Dowdy’s trial was set to start in April of this year
[2023], however, the judge granted a motion to delay proceedings because of emergency medical care. Then, in July, the judge granted a motion to continue the case due to Dowdy’s cancer treatment.

The district attorney added that he isn’t sure how Dowdy’s case would proceed due to her medical condition.
