Exactly. I've spent the last hour or so scanning through previous threads to see if was ever mentioned but I can't see as it was.

Also depending on the type of phone it was many phones nowadays have online cloud storage facilities which automatically upload data saved on the phone to them. My phone uploads all of my photos and documents I store on my phone plus copies of text messages and messaging service conversations such as whatsapp. Would be interesting to know if Britts phone had these options. If it did and she felt threatened then who knows what could have been uploaded

O/T sar2them1984,
So sorry about the weather you are having your way. And.....does wfgodot know you've borrowed the dog? :)

Were you referring to the shiny item just underneath the front of the chair? I assumed that was part of the car but I may be wrong. It looks almost circular

The photo the news used is an actor or placement, not Donald. :)

A cell phone can be a surveillance device using the cellphone's own capabilities, initiated remotely and regardless of whether the power is on or off. Cell phone transmissions can be intercepted and/or tracked in real time with no apparent indication to the owner.

This has been public knowledge for years(so no trade secrets have been revealed). Possibly since the Genovese family prosecution in 2006?.

O...k. I think you're not understanding my question, so I'll make it a bit more clear.

Do you think Brittney could have had a snitch phone, a phone given to her by the detective in charge of this case, to use for video/audio while being alone with various members of the Wood/Holland family. Specifically Donald, since he had a meeting with a detective in charge the day he was found dead. If she could have a snitch phone, would this be in her possession full-time or only after a meeting with the detective prior and after the arranged "hang outs" with Donald (or others). Does that make sense?

When someone is a snitch, do they have the police issued phone with them at all times till they have enough to arrest or is it given at the meet up spot (I only know of people getting busted this way through drug buys, and I know they have to report back to LE after making a purchase to turn over the drug and also meet up prior to get the money).

Police can turn on any phone to monitor conversations and even use the camera to see what's happening. Brittney wouldn't necessarily need to carry a police issue phone even if she was providing info to LE.

This phone talk has me wondering about Wendy's midnight run to get meds for a sick kid. Wasn't that about 2AM Thursday morning? The night after Brittney disappeared?

I just thought it unusual that she made a post on Facebook about going out after midnight for a sick kid then she never mentioned the kid being sick again.

Could she have thought her phone was being monitored and needed an excuse as to why she was out and about so late? Otherwise why post about it on Facebook. At the time it seemed somewhat reasonable, but now we know the investigation began months before, I wonder.

These folks come across as dumb as rocks, but I do think they know how to manipulate things to their advantage. Stupid like a fox.

I don't think you understood my answer. Why give anyone anything when LE can use the person's own phone to do what you describe with or without their knowledge or permission?

No, I don't think she was given a "snitch phone".

The picture in the video is very problematic if supposedly related to this case.

ETA.....Me and gliving were apparently posting at the same time. Thanks gliving for answering.

Kudos to you Archangel7. It's great to have a verified law enforcement poster joining the conversation. I'll try to wait my turn next time. :)

Thank you for being KIND and taking the time to break it down. I was asking based on loose info I only know from drug busts (where a phone was given to the informant - nothing to do with this case at all.). I posed the question
because I'm trying to figure out why on earth:

Wendy and Donald really took Brittney off their phone plan

How Brittney had enough money to purchase time or a new phone

Why or how Chessie would know the battery of the phone when the type of phone has never been disclosed or brought up.

This is odd to me because Brittney is missing, so is her phone, wouldn't they or shouldn't they have it on the "Be on the look out" just as the same for the clothing she had with her when she left and her flat iron for her hair? Why has her phone never been subject to notice?

Her phone could have been long ago found and reactivated by someone else by now, we will never know because we have no idea what kind of phone! And given how obsessive Wendy was with clearing out Donald's text msgs, Brittney's messages - you'd think the type of phone would have made it's way public too.

PS: Wendy's child was "ill" at around 1am.
RSW was Geo Catching around the same time.

Wendy's kid and illness was never brought up again.

I've always wondered why more wasn't made of the phone. We all know she supposedly had it on her due to le making a big deal intially regarding the last ping however CW never once stated that I can find that Britt left with her phone. Not when she gave the rather vague description of Britt nor when the missing posters were made. I would have thought this would be one of the very things both CW and LE would mention. They certainly do if someone goes missing iver here in the Uk. ANYWAY...Queue us all forgetting about the phone then BAM! Suddenly the very battery to her phone turns up in deceased uncles car.

The finding of the battery has always irked me for a number of reasons

1. That the battery was ever "found" at all. I mean if someone had done something the Britt and wanted to dispose if the phone then the battery is a very odd thing to forget. A SIM or memory card I can see but a battery? They ain't exactly on the small side and most have a bit of weight to them. Surely if you had the phone to dispose of it you'd realise it was suddenly lighter?

2. As I've stated before, the fact that it was linked to Britts phone at all is very odd as many phones from the same company use the same batteries.

3. The fact that CW identified the battery as coming from Brits phone due to having a distinguished scratch has always grated in me. Its near impossible to scratch a phone battery and even if it was scratched what are the chances that CW would know about it considering the battery is the one part of the phone which no one other than the owner would see

4. How did CW come to even identifying the battery. Did LE approach her? IMO if LE found a battery when dealing with DH suicide scene then its a big jump for them to even ask Britts family whether it was hers especially as at the time of his death Britt was still not officially missing

All MOO and I'm probably reading too much into it but its something which I keep returning to

The same can be said for the gun. I believe that CW was the one who identified it as Britts. Now given what we know about CW we know she aint the most law abiding citizen so why would she identify it as Britts knowing that it would implicate her own daughter in Donnies death? No one else knew about the gun so why didn't she keep schtum?

Chessie has been very loyal to her siblings, up until recently. I can imagine her telling LE the gun was Brittney's to make sure no LE suspicions about his death were turned towards her sister, or another sibling?

Was RSW Geo-caching around the time Wendy's child was ill? I thought he had gone away for some sort of military training.

That was my understanding, that he was on military training - didn't he return early telling other colleagues that there was a family issue?

I can understand your point but I still find it hard to digest. That you would deliberately and intentionally implicate your own child....

Yes, that's it. That's what I'm remembering. We had an insider posting here who said something about it, I'm sure. I really don't know which thread to find that info in though - it was way back.

I believe it was right near the beginning maybe thread 2 or 3? I remember particularly because they were quite adament about their facts and then we found out they were an insider.

Talking of geo caching. I used to do a bit a while ago and it took me here there and everywhere. If RSW was as into it as I think then there would be many places he could have gotten rid of evidence. I know he wasn't around when Britt went missing but his kmowledge of rural areas could certainly have been called upon. Did he have his own transport at the time??

Also geocachers tend to use websites to post co ordinates that kind of thing. Do we know if he was a member of any? Could be useful to have a look see if he'd posted anything sround the time of Britts disappearance
