The media painted her in the worst possible light back then. I thought she was part of the "family sex ring". The Monster in The Shadows is really worthwhile watching. Chessie might not have been a perfect mother, (who is), but she is very different to the woman painted by the media, (and also LE?) at that time.

I read, (on FB, but I think it's reliable) that Chessie Wood died yesterday. She had been fighting metastatic breast cancer for a short time.

Chessie Wood, the mother of missing teen Brittney Wood, has died.

According to a Facebook post by the Justice for Brittney Wood page, Chessie passed away peacefully on Oct. 7.

Chessie had been searching for Brittney for over 13 years when she died on Tuesday.

The Justice for Brittney Wood page posted Wednesday, “Brittney’s mom, Chessie, passed peacefully last night.

I'd like to think Chessie has been reunited with Brittney in a place far better than this. No more pain or suffering.

Hope Brittney's daughter is well loved, I don't remember who is raising her. Was It Chessie?

I remember Chessie had two younger children she was raising with her DH back then. I see happy pics on her FB. No doubt it was hard over the years for Chessie missing Brittney though. Yes, @Knox, I too hope there is a better place on the other side. Brittney's daughter Payton gave a news interview on her 8th birthday, you can probably find it on youtube, where she says how much she misses Brittney. I think she was being raised by her biological father. ​
