Since we're not sure what exactly would cause BW to run (possibly drugs? scared of uncles? etc). I try to imagine myself in that scenario.

Just to make my point, I'll use the example of the uncles since they've been arrested for heinous crimes.

If 2 of my uncles had been molesting my cousins, me, my siblings, anyone and they threatened me and I knew for a fact that my children were safe with who they were with, I would have no problems with leaving on foot and staying hidden until the threat was eliminated.

My biggest fear with the scenario of her in hiding is that whatever is threatening her could potentially have access to her child. That, as a mom/parent, would be the only thing that would worry me to death.

Do we know what she had in her bag when she left? If she had a bag full of food? I'm not sure how rural the area is there, but I live in a rural area now, grew up in a rural area and I'm pretty sure that I could keep myself hidden and live off of the bare minimum food for quite a while, if my life depended on it.

I am not trying to get anyone's hopes up, I don't know how resourceful BW is, but if she is hiding out of fear, it's completely understandable. We already one person is dead, either by his hand or one of his relatives (MOO).

The only reason she would run would be if she was involved in all this in some way! To me that would be the ONLY reason...she did something very very wrong otherwise with all the ppl looking for her she would have called SOMEONE....Sorry i believe she is dead and is out there in the woods somewhere....

Right. I was only asking because I thought there would be a record of it and I wouldn't have to say it because I'm not sure if I should. But, if it's true that they don't have to be registered, then LE may not even know where DH got it. I don't want to discuss what laws there should or shouldn't be, just what they are so we can determine if LE would even be aware of where he got the gun. Is that clear as mud?

Im sure they know!

So DH's wife has lied from the start....first saying that her hubby killed himself at their home, going so far as to say she drove him back there and he killed himself while she was out and about with their children and she found him when she returned. Now we learn that DH committed suicide in his vehicle at the Styx River house...and he was found there not only by his wife, but her relative that was with her (whose husband has now been arrested and charged with sexual criminal offenses). Am I getting this right?

Well, well....we were on the mark all along. Very few innocents in this case, aside from the young victims. The can of worms is opened and just waiting to be tipped over.

We dont know what she told LE!
She can lie to everyone else!

I don't think it has been established in which location he killed himself, only that it was in his vehicle (is that correct?)

On the Jane Velez Mitchell show, it stated that "On Friday, June 1, Donnie Wood returned to his home near Fairhope, Alabama, and killed himself". I'm not sure where she got that info from - I'm hoping it was from LE and that she was not relying on family members.

To me, it would make more sense to shoot himself at the river home, where he was living at the time, unless he had a good reason for going to Fairhope.

All the nonsense about who dropped off who and where that day, just adds to the confusion IMO.

True, but how confusing would that be? What would be the purpose in lying to the press and then telling the truth to LE...and how would you keep all that straight?

I think it was Zeaux that told us he was in his vehicle at the Styx River home. She might can confirm that for us, however.

It has been extremely challenging to keep the facts in this case....and also to keep track of all the different family members.

Ya know!
Could be WWH went to the styx river house and found him and called Mendy
WWH drove the car with deceased hubby in it back to
Fairhope.... Just a thought! she did say she dropped him off at the Fairhope house.... It was also stated WWH and MWK found him! I think they were trying to cover things up.... JMO

Well i know if it were me i wouldnt want to tell the press or the world my husband killed himself and is under investigation.

I do believe there are things she is not saying....
but i do think it will all come to light!

WWH's story has definitely been confusing. What I have been told is DW was at the Styx River house when he shot himself in his vehicle. She and MWK found him unconscious and called 911. I know this conflicts with her story, and I can't explain why there would be any reason to not tell the truth about that.

Bringing this forward a bit for those who may have missed it earlier.

I'm wondering what the advantage would be to move her husband's body to Fairhope. Especially if the suicide would be investigated (position of the body, gunshot wounds and residue etc.). She would have to move him to drive the car ....

I think Wendy found him and then erased all messages on his phone trying to cover things up. Im sure she knew Brittney was there......jmo

Thanks!

I still think she made these stories up because she was trying to hide the fact he was involved with Bittney being missing.

Not saying its right but .........

Well it seems she didnt...
It was said he died at Fairhope then Zeaux said it was Styx river i tend to believe Styx river version...

How do ya know he was in the drivers seat?

I only said she could have done that as to make ppl believe he wasnt at styx river....

No crime scene in the home only the car she could make it appear he wasnt there.

June 15th thru 18th Mobile had three days of flooding rain. If her body was left anywhere near Styx River - it is possible she is not there now. I do not know where Styx River leads to but perhaps the search should move down river. There is a tropical disturbance in the gulf which could make this even more difficult if it hits this area.
Just a thought.

Neither the MPD or the BCSO would confirm the rumor that Wood had gone to visit her uncle the night she disappeared, but BCSO spokesperson Maj. Anthony Lowery said a three-day search in the Styx River area earlier this month was related to her cell phone records.

"We believe her cell phone went to that area,” Lowery said. "We don’t have any information to believe she was with the cell phone at the time.”

Lowery also said the investigation determined the cell phone was later used in south Mobile County, and the BCSO does not currently have an active investigation into Wood’s whereabouts, although they are acting in an "agency assist” role with the MPD.

Thank you to Zeaux, for answering all these questions! Welcome all newcomers, all insights are appreciated. :)

Speaking of which... I mean no disrespect to LE, however :), in cases such as these where there are concerns that the LE involved MAY be out of their element, and I am not saying that that is definitely the case here, the right questions always produce the most productive outcome. When we do have someone here to answer our questions I see this website shine. So many here ask the right questions. There so much experience, heart and talent here. I hope reads here. :)

Thanks for that link, very interesting stuff. Confirmation that DH *was* being investigated for sexual abuse at the time of his death. (Zeaux said this already)

Also I found this part telling: (BBM)

"Levy added the MPD has not received any information to indicate Wood is forcibly being held captive and said friends and family has been cooperative, although they have provided some "questionable” information.

"We’ve got some incomplete answers,” he said, adding that the family did in fact hear from Brittney between the time she left her home and the time she was reported missing.

"That wasn’t originally reported. So there has been some back and forth. Some answers haven’t been entirely accurate,”
Levy said."

Well I haven't read that he shot himself in his car. So now I'm wondering why she said she drove him around places if he had his car. And why shoot yourself all cramped up in a car , there was his place and the whole outdoors. Is it hard to shot yourself with a shotgun in a car ? How do we know it was even suicide?
And why would they think only her cell phone went to styx river, like someone took her somewhere and killed her then keep her phone? Since it was pinged at Styx river it would still implicate DH IMO.

LE is almost always out of their element in missing persons cases, even without the added complications of this one...there just doesn't seem to be an effective way to go about finding people in any jurisdiction, IMO.
