On the family's latest FB post, there is a comment made that made my eyes bug out a little.

She said that sure, BW's family was a bit dysfunctional, but aren't ALL of our families?

I really doubt that the charges brought against these family members are a big yawn to most people because it's totally normal. Or am I that out of touch?

Sorry, but that comment really knocked me out.

I was gobsmacked too

So casual like we all have a mad Uncle who we try and keep away from the kids because he might anally rape them but yanno - doesn't each family have one !!!

I'm joking out of shock rather than flippancy.

I just can't believe someone could be so casual about it !!

I have never seen anything like this.... its as if LE is also this casual about these charges. This investigation has been going on for a long time, well before BW vanished. And... drumroll.. there are more arrests coming, today, tomorrow, maybe next week. We're just not sure.. but take the bait and wait.. they are coming. Meanwhile, dont let your kids out of your sight and dont worry about BW. Its not related. So what if the last known person she was with, or at least who we knew she was going to see is dead. No biggie.. its not related.

I am sooo frustrated and I cannot imagine what her mother and father must be feeling. I wish I were in that area.. I would go with that man every single day to look for her.

LE... Ive been trying my best to believe that you have this. But it gets harder with every press release.

ARREST them already! FIND Brittney. WTH are you doing? WHY are you warning these perps of their upcoming arrests? IT makes NO sense to me!!!! Where the heck is Family Services? Where are the press releases showing evidence being removed from these residences? Why not go ahead and tell them your evidence as well, so as they prepare for arrest, they can destroy evidence.... oh wait... surely they already have done so.

Banging my head against the wall just doesnt seem enough... I think im going to have to body slam the dang wall... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I really wish that law enforcement would explain why they have concluded that the sex abuse investigation and DH's suicide are not related to BW. They must have some evidence to support those statements, but they aren't saying a word about the events that are related to BW"s disappearance.

So, where was BW last known to be before she went missing? If it was Grand Bay, what do they have that confirms that information?

I'm not sure that LE has any evidence of where BW was at any point outside of testimonies and statements made by people and the pings of her cell phone on towers in Styx River and Grand Bay, respectively. One thing to keep in mind about LE is that, unlike us here, they must follow the evidence and can't afford to speculate. They have to be very careful in their approach and they must assume that all of these events are not connected until they find evidence that they are. Nothing is concrete and that is what is frustrating to family like BW's father.

Just a note, Klaas Kids is very much involved and I would be looking for them to begin to search again very soon.

My thoughts exactly, and from what I can tell, much of the people in that areas thoughts. I know they want DW out of jail, however he will get a trial and his release or sentence can be determined then. I believe the focus should be whole heartedly on BW now and that any monitary or physical volunteer the family can get at this time should be used for finding BW. I think the community will be more likely to help. As far as WHanke...he seems to be working his butt off to solve this. I hope he brings his baby girl home!!

All of the donations go into a special account set-up to fund the search for BW. This money cannot be taken out by just anyone or spent on just anything. My understanding is that there is an independent entity watching the account and in control of the fund to ensure proper usage so that should alleviate the communities concerns about where the money is going.

And this from the owner of Brittney's Home Town Search FB page:

"The Hometown search for Brittney Wood: Brittney did NOT walk to Styx River Donnie picked her up in Mobile and took her there that has been confirmed. And thanks for letting us know there are no Fliers there anymore. We live in Mobile and I assume once our focus changed to Grandbay they removed the Fliers If anyone is in that area and can hand More out to the stores that would be great I have had to go back into store here in my area and give them new fliers. And we are still having a problem with walmart letting us hang them in there?"

https://www.facebook.com/pages/🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬/451298481547844

Donnie picked her up in Mobile and took her to his Styx River house.

All this means is that the family was probably told by LE that they have evidence that DH picked BW up and took her to Styx River. I believe we already had a report from LE stating that they believe DH brought BW to Grand Bay. I believe this is based on statements made by family members and/or witnesses within the community. Some in this family have decided to sow confusion concerning BW's case to, perhaps, cover up wrong doing by those that they love. This is speculation but is consistent with what the owner of the fb page believes as well as others within this family.

News from the Press-Register (not sure if this site is allowed...if it isn't let me know!)

Missing woman's brother accused of sex crimes, jailed in Bay Minette

http://blog.al.com/live/2012/07/missing_womans_brother_accused.html

Baldwin County deputies arrested Derek Wood, 21, of Mobile on Friday. He was being held Monday in the county Corrections Center in Bay Minette, after a judge set his bail at $100,000.

<sip the quotes of him "protecting" BW>
Hours prior to that June 14 interview, Derek Wood had been released from Mobile County Metro Jail after state troopers in Mobile arrested him on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident with injury.

If he is released from the Baldwin jail, he will be required to wear an ankle-bracelet monitoring device, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

By the way, this is still true. I have been to three Wal-marts in the Mobile area, personally, and none of them would allow me to put fliers up for BW. I was told that they had to seek approval from their corporate office. I even offered to give them fliers and have them put them up if they get approval and was told no because they didn't want extra papers around and they did say they were worried that they may get lost and felt they would do better service somewhere else.

Edited to add:"Wal-Mart has a policy that all flyers that displayed are from National Center for Missing & Exploited Children."

This could be why they won't allow it. BW is not considered a child by law. There may be restrictions.

CW has endured more pain and shock in 1 1/2 months than most people in a lifetime. None of us can say how we would react if we were in her situation (I would probably be in a padded room). Now what I am about to say is not to bash CW at all...it is to maybe give any of her family members reading this insight as to an outsiders view. I believe it is information that CW should hear. Again PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS AS NEGATIVE!! I cant imagine what I would do if I was in her position. However it has apparently been difficult to raise money to get a reward for info about BW. It has been difficult for them to get volunteers to help search. BWs dad has been searching daily ALONE. Just as the family has some success with the bucket drive, DW is then arrested. CW posts on her wall asking for money to get him out. I know CW doesnt believe or want to believe DWs charges and I wont speculate one way or another. HOWEVER...he is alive...he does have a bed....he is getting 3 meals a day....everyone knows where he is at. I know she has a missing daughter and wants her son out of jail, but whats that saying...he has 3 hots and a cot. Asking the publicly for money from friends to get him out is probably going to scare off any extra money she could get for finding BW. Some people may think that there money could possibly be going to get DW out of jail and not to finding BW. Some people will not be giving DW a fair trial in their minds and I feel that if focusing on getting him out is a priority then it may should be done without public posts. I would love to see the community come together and do everything in their means to find BW. I am just scared this will not happen if support is shown publicly for any of the men arrested. This is just my opinion and when I state "public" that is referring to the many friends I have in the Tillmans Corner and Grand Bay area. I have asked why they feel there is so little support for BW there and this is what I am being told. I truely in my heart hope that BW can shine through all of this nasty news that is overtaking the main point, which is a missing 19 yr old.

I didn't read your comments as negative. I live in the Mobile area and grew up in the Tillman's Corner/Theodore area of the county. I have seen the different sides of this story unfold in this community.

This family has been called horrible things by people, locally, that decided to place all of them in the same category. I have even been told that I should be ashamed for supporting them. I'm not doing it because everyone in this family is a saint, God knows I'm not one either. I'm not doing it to get recognition, couldn't give a care if my name is ever mentioned and would prefer to remain anonymous but because of the few that are actually looking, searching and helping, from this area, that's impossible.

I'm doing it because, regardless of her past, BW needs to be found. I'm doing it because, regardless of what some in this family are accused of, there are good people in this family too and they are trying, desperately, to find BW. I'm doing it because I would hope, being the father of a beautiful little girl, that someone would do the same for me if I was ever in that situation.

Very well said Inthedetails!!!!! We need more people like you in this world! Thank you.

I think the thing that's bothering a lot of people is that it seems like there might be a good chance that Brittney doesn't want to be found, if she's still alive, and that she might not be missing, so much as she's just decided to cut her losses and run away.

What's tying her to this area? Not much. Her daughter was not in her custody, and it sounds like the father's family is taking care of the child.

I know that when I spoke to the local newspaper back in early July, they said one of the reasons they hadn't followed the story is that there was so much conflicting information, and it seemed like she was just an adult runaway, which is not a crime.

I wonder if advertising agencies ever donate billboard faces for the missing. If the family could get Brittney's photo, "Have You Seen Me", etc. somewhere along the interstate, between the Wilcox and Grand Bay areas, thousands of folks would see it. Do any of you know the billboard business?

My issue is with the words underlined in red. It seemed, it seems, it appears. How many times have we heard this from people, from LE, from elected officials and had they just dug a little deeper then the truth would be known? Why should it matter whether she ran away, personally I think the family would love to know that she had because that means she is alive? The fact is that we will never know unless we try to find the truth because the people that may know where she is or what happened to her sure aren't going to volunteer that info. There is no evidence BW was killed anymore than there is evidence that she ran away. So why are people lending more creedance to one than the other. I think it's because people can rationalize their disregard, their complete lack of caring, their inability or unwillingness to get involved, by simply saying she's a runaway.

Edited to add: This, in no way, is directed at you, Dr TJ Eckleburg. I appreciate you making that statement because it is true that a lot of people in the community feel exactly as you have said. My comment is aimed at those feelings.

Dustin Kent Uncle of Brittney Wood Arrested Again

http://www.northmobilepost.com/dustin-kent-uncle-of-brittney-wood-arrested-again/

snip
All of the victims in the sex abuse case were under the age of 16 when the abuse occurred. According to RAINN (Rape,Abuse, and Incest National Network), 44% of all sexual abuse victims are under the age of 18, and 80% are under the age of 30. Roughly two-thirds of all assaults are committed by someone known to the victim, with 38% of rapists being a friend or acquaintance.

One of the more startling statistics provided by RAINN is that 54% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police. As a result, 97% of the rapists never spend a day in jail. The traumatizing and embarrassing effects of the crime on victims lead many to keep quiet. This is the worst way to handle the situation, as the victims are left to deal with the pain alone, and the assaulter is free to attack other victims.

Maybe when you have a minute, could you show the report where LE says they believe Donnie brought Brittney to Grand Bay? I looked and can't find it. TIA!

I see. I thought Inthedetails04 meant there was a MSM article with LE saying that Donnie gave Brittney a ride. The reason I ask is because Brittney's page is the only place I've read it. Thanks sadnpod!

I think that Zeaux may have confirmed that law enforcement told the family this, as well.

It sounds to me as if this could have happened years ago.. that the victims may be of age now. Im not sleuthing any victims.. just wondering how LE could know if BW is not a victim in that case. How would they know without her here to tell them?:waitasec:

Maybe her missing is a coincidence.. I have no idea anymore, this case keeps my head spinning and my heart hurting for everyone affected.

LOL more coffee for me! Your link returns to my original post of the video. I thought you had another MSM source. I think we understand LE may not be completely forthcoming to the family due to the parallel investigation. Thanks though!
