Klass Kids were there for 2 days and left!

The Family is trying to figure out how to get monies together for her search
They are asking on FB how to get flyers donated.

I thought that was what Klass foundation was there to help with.

they obviously dont believe her to be in the AREA!

For the record, KlaasKids remains involved in BW's disappearance. They discontinued ground searches pending further information.

Her Mother should call them.
Hi my duaghter is Missing i want to tell the public a little about her and maybe someone has seen her, this is what she looks like, this is where we are planning to search!

We are planning a candle light vigil id like for the news to cover it.
Call radio stations

They wont go to her she has to go to them!

Invite them to your house let them see her room!
Bla bla bla!!!!

Hand out pics of her to motorists...

I could go on and on! But i wont lol!

The news was at the vigil last Monday night, but only showed a short clip on the air and didn't put it on the website.

Many people are making assumptions that the family is doing nothing because nothing is being reported. That's flawed logic. I feel like I'm beating that poor dead horse again.

Hi Zeaux,:seeya:

A short clip is better than no clip.

I do hope you are not missing Eileen's bigger picture message that CW and/or BW's father should be initiating these and many efforts to garner media attention. Regular and on-going media attention seems to be so very important in these cases!

Big hug to you! You sound like you’re drowning and defensive. Step back and try to look objectively at the suggestions here – we all wish you well and that BW is found and safe.

I feel like I've provided all the relevant information that I am able to at this point. There is still quite a bit of confusion, but I am just making the thread longer by posting the clarifications. I'm repeating myself most of the time, so the information is there to be read.

Some posts are quoting comments from MSM outlets websites and facebook as though the comments are MSM reports, which I feel just adds to the confusion.

Thanks all.

Yes, a short clip is better than nothing. I was just trying to respond to the OP who assumed the family had not notified the media of the vigil, when in fact they had. The clip didn't make it to the website, so the assumption was that there was no media coverage. That just wasn't the case.

The family is trying to get media attention, but it's not working. That is why I suggested others try to get the media to pay attention.

I am weary. I've been here many times daily spending hours reading and answering what feels like hundreds of questions, many of them the same questions. But now it seems like there is more criticism of the family than I believe is deserved. I don't know how anyone can be on the outside and begin to assume they know what these people are doing or not doing just because they don't see it on the news or read it on their facebook pages. So, if I seem defensive, that's why.

RE the search last Saturday: But, on the BW FB site it wasn't covered either. It should be on there announcing the search, drumming up volunteers, relaying the results of the search and thanking the volunteers.

If you are close to the person administering the site, please have them look at other sites for missing persons and what they have done that looks effective. The goal is to get the word out.

As to answering questions here: if you have already answered a question, please feel no obligation to answer it again. All of your posts are linked to your profile and accessible to all.

Most of us are at a distance and follow many cases here on WS so can only rely on what we read or see on TV. We have also seen what seems to be effective approaches along with each of our own personal life, work experiences - that is the spirit from which suggestions are made.

We are all trying to help in whatever way we can.

Unfortunately, this is not unique to BW's case. I have followed a lot these cases over the years, way before I even joined WS. At some point, in all of these cases some criticism happens. The truth is that no family is ever prepared to handle a missing person case and many times they make mistakes and are judged for it. Other times, they are too smooth and are judged for that, too. Many of the organizations that exist to help families of the missing were started because the majority of the population does not know what to do when a loved one goes missing.

Something that most people don't realize is that the media monitors facebook and other social media pages while they are evaluating the newsworthiness of certain topics. They run the same web searches and follow the same approach that many of us follow. No chatter, means no interest. They do a quick and dirty review of what is being talked about and make a decision. I heard that directly from a member of my family that interned at a local news station. Social media is critical in many of these cases and interest from non-involved, non-locals carries much less weight than local interest. I don't want to say any more than that because I don't want to break any rules.

I read statements from BD with KK where they were doing ground searches initially and then switched to going door to door but were still there with the family.

Do you have other information from Klaas Kids that was not reported?

Maybe someone should call them directly so we can have a verified up to date statement regarding their involvement and support efforts?

It is just a suggestion... for anyone who is concerned about Klaas Kids involvement (or potential lack thereof). That way you won't have to worry or speculate.

Well i remember them saying no more searches were planned and they would return when new leads came about!

Can I ask everyone to PLEASE read all 3 threads. PLEASE read the timeline. I know it is alot of reading but we need to not wear people down with the same questions that have been answered. I know they are asked with good intentions but we want people with inside info (such as Zeaux) to have a fresh mind and not repeating themselves. We need their invaluable information and want them to come here to share and not feel like they are repeating themselves over and over. I dont mean this ugly but this is such a sensitive case and there are sooooo many details. It will help everyone if they read the threads in the entirety. Something I have done since the case is filled with twists and turns is that I print the newest timeline when it comes out. I use that timeline before I ask any questions on here. JMO

Several direct quotes from LE in this article.

snippets:

"Neither the MPD or the BCSO would confirm the rumor that Wood had gone to visit her uncle the night she disappeared, but BCSO spokesperson Maj. Anthony Lowery said a three-day search in the Styx River area earlier this month was related to her cell phone records.

"We believe her cell phone went to that area,” Lowery said. "We don’t have any information to believe she was with the cell phone at the time.”

"Meanwhile, Levy said the search moved from Baldwin County to south Mobile County based on an "active criminal investigation” involving other Wood relatives in Baldwin County. Dustin Alton Kent, whose relationship to Wood could not be confirmed by Lagniappe, was arrested there for sodomy and rape June 19, the same day another uncle, Randall Scott Wood, was arrested for sex abuse, sodomy and incest.

"All we reported to the family is that we had information through our investigation that puts [Wood] in the Grand Bay area or south Mobile County at or around same time [Holland] is committing suicide,” Levy said. "We don’t have any reason to believe that Brittney is not alive and we are continuing to investigate this as missing person.”

"Regardless, the MPD has devoted a detective to the case."

I think we are all waiting for news of this "horrific" investigation to become public. Til then... Zeaux, please hang in there. I know how hard it is for you. Tell the family that there are many caring people praying for them and Brit, and will continue to do so until she is found.

((hugs))

MPD Cpl. Chris Levy said. "We don’t have any reason to believe that Brittney is not alive and we are continuing to investigate this as missing person.”

{RSBM}

The above quote from LE is something that really upsets me... They indicate they are investigating her disappearance as a missing person but they are not treating her disappearance as a missing person case.

What is their excuse for not reporting her disappearance to the FBI as required by Federal Law?

I know the reason the family has not been able to receive support or assistance from Crimestopper's is because there is "no evidence of a crime being committed." Which just totally boggles my sensibilities & logic... Hang on... I'm about to get fired up... :banghead:

REALLY??? I mean... REALLY??? A young mother who has never not been in contact with at least a close friend, family member or blazing up FB & the very same uncle who she was going to see the day she vanishes... coincidently commits suicide just hours after her phone pings near the location where his phone also was... who is now missing for 31 days and foul play or a crime is not even considered a possibility?

Are they using some sort of morality or "worth the effort" checklist that tells them Brittney's life isn't as valuable or important as another person?

apologies for my vibrant emotions... just sharing my thoughts and opinions.

...end rant...

Totally agree. To keep up with this and a couple of other cases, I found the importance of reading ALL of the threads. While it may be time-consuming, it is the only way to follow the cases carefully. I have seen the same questions posed over and over again, oftentimes on the same page that contains the answers. By not reading, this necessitates responses from those who follow along and takes away from the topics being discussed. IMOO.

I feel the same way footballmom.... and as much as I hate it.. Ive seen it over and over. If you are missing and there is one iota of gossip about drug use, or bad parenting, or your family does not have money.. then you are not looked for as long or as hard as someone who appears to be lily white and whose family has money.

Correct me if I'm wrong!

According to the timeline, the Grand Bay truck stop cell ping was Thursday 5/31 @ 1:47am.
Are they saying that was around the same time of DH's suicide?
If so, that is around the same time, 5/31 @ 1:42am, "someone" posts not being able to sleep and having a sick child to take to the doctors in the morning.
Which in turn kinda screws up the Friday morning drop off of DH, drop off of boys, then 1 1/2 hour later finding DH information.

Or I could totally be reading the statement wrong! (I have just spent the last 3 hours trying to sort out the timeline to simplify it for my simple mind...lots of bolding and colors!!!)

MOO these direct statements from LE certainly shed a different light on what the extended family members have said. Ya know? I was most relieved to read there is a detective devoted to the case.

Wait a minute, please, let’s remind ourselves that this case involves:

Missing young woman, mother of small child
Rape
Sodomy
Incest
Drugs
Gun
Suicide
[did I miss any?]

Not the sort of things that even the PR credo (“No news is bad news!”) would seek out to cover - the lack of media attention has nothing to do with race or monetary worth!!

This family needs to be very creative and assertive to get the message out there. IMO

Zeaux, all of your posts are greatly appreciated! Please know that there are a lot of people wishing for Brittney's safe return! Your family will stay in my prayers!

I have been here since day one. I have read every thread from the beginning AND read and re-read the timeline...and I still forget things. You have to admit that this case can be very confusing.
