If there is no story there is no story!

I believe LE thinks she is hiding!
So if LE might think this, then local media thinks it also.


If she was one of the ppl responsible for these 3 mens charges and after talking to Uncle D about it mayb they dcided she shoud take off for a while but then she hears he killed himself and CANT go home because she feels its all her fault!

So yea she might be out there...
Where would she go?

There is a connection to seeing DH and her going missing and him shooting and killing himself

Thinking about tjis last night reminded me that there have been several child /sexual. Abuse or attempt for solicitation of minors lately in the Mobile and Baldwin Co. areas. Like to the tune of at least one a month since the start of the year. Someone's comment that the men involved in this " aren't the ring leaders " got me to thinking that that may be a reason its not more highly reported. What if it is, in fact, an actual ring? Could this be the proverbial "iceberg"?

Well, I do know a couple of them were solicitation of minors online so that probably wouldn't fit. But I'm not sure of the details of all the other cases. Mostly just small blurbs on the news after arrests with a rundown of charges. I only have my my for interne and it's kind of hard to work with but it may be worth a few minutes if I'm iut this week to stop at the library and see what I can find.

Earlier everyone was discussing why BW's case hasn't been getting as much media attention as you might think, especially after the uncles were arrested. I want to be careful how I word the following information because I don't want to break any of the rules on here. Ive read them, but I'm still new, so please let me know if I need to remove or change anything:

I am fairly confident that one big *reason why *BW story has not taken off in the media, as one might expect (especially when the charges against the uncles were announced), is due to DK's connections. At first, I was not aware of who his people are, but they are a fairly respected and popular in the state. I think this is why some, especially news outlets, are turning their heads. Even though BW family might not have stature, etc...some individuals connected with DK do.*

Also, *I do know some of them contribute a lot of their time to assist individuals and help their community. They are quite a contrast to some of the other people's behavior we have seen on FB. From what Ive personally encountered they are very kind and hard-working. I am quite sure they are hurt with everything going on, not just because of DK but because BW is missing. Even though DK married into a family very different from theirs, they have always been kind to MWK and her family regardless. With that said, I do not think they are trying to keep BW story hush or are trying to hide anything. I think the media and others are trying to shy away from this fact because they don't want to be criticized for airing out the community's dirty laundry.

IMOO this is why the media and maybe some others in the area seem hesitant to discuss it more, at least not until anyone is convicted of charges. I could be wrong, and again, I am not in any way trying instigate controversy or point fingers because enough people have already been devastated by the actions of a few. Also, those connected with DK could very well be helping in the efforts to find BW...so I'm def. not pointing fingers or being negative towards others.

But, it's of course NOT right for the media to refuse to cover BW or for others to ignore her story for this reason...(if this in fact is the reason.)

At this point, I think it would be VERY helpful for people outside of the community to help search for BW (such as in the earlier post). This way, no one will be concerned about stepping on their neighbor's toes ...which they should NOT concerned about this anyway!!!!! I hope this sheds some light on the media reservations.

i guarantee that is not the reason. the media is not ignoring the story at all. when there is an update on BW it is reported. the media is not protecting DK because he has a famous nephew.

I received official approval from Tricia for us to work together to gather information at the request of Brittney's family that will assist with distributing her missing person flyer to as many places as possible.

Ideally, if possible - they would like to start sending out the flyers in advance of the holiday in order to reach the influx of visitors to the area for the 4th of July festivities.

If folks can help me with gathering FACEBOOK PAGES, fax numbers and/or email addresses for the following types of facilities within 100 miles of Mobile, I will enter the information into a spreadsheet and I will forward it to the family.

PLEASE - work from the inside out; begin with locations closest to Mobile and expand out to further locations.

I will need the type of facility (hospital, hotel, etc...), the full name of the facility, their complete address or at least city & state, email address, website OR FACEBOOK (if available), phone & fax numbers.

To avoid duplication of efforts please indicate which facilities you can volunteer to research and if other locations/types of facilities should be added:

For what it’s worth: someone has to have a database with all of this information – a visitor’s bureau, travel agent, etc. If so, and if they are willing, they should be able to choose each of these categories of businesses for your desired area and download desired info to a txt file or excel spreadsheet.

I just tried to call Mobile Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau but their offices are currently closed (Hrs M-F 8-5).

I respectfully disagree. The local Mobile daily (for now) newspaper has completely ignored the arrest of DK and RSW. It's not been underreported. It's been not reported at all. The bi-weekly arts and entertainment rag is the only paper to cover the arrests, and that was one line in a followup of BW's disappearance.

They have reporters who cover arrest reports from MPD and BCSO. I'm absolutely sure they know of the arrests, but they are not reporting. As for it not being news, page 2 last week had a story about two guys arrested for stealing copper wire. That was on Page 2 of the A section.

If you notice yesterday I posted a comment challenging everyone there to contact the media and let it be heard that BW needs to be found. I posted links and The Hometown for BW Search reposted my links today Also if you notice I contacted the media myself and posted that I did indeed here back from one so far that will be airing BWs story again. It only takes an email or phone call. The media hasnt been all over because the public isnt MAKING them. JMO However I am glad to see the page light up today and I hope the news station follows through and posts BWs story again and soon!!

Sending you all the info I have gathered on info for gas stations in South Alabama and Mississippi. There were no fax numbers listed online but I included the phone number and a section for the family to list the fax number or email after they call. I also included a section where they could list the persons name that gives them permission to fax or email in case it becomes a legal issue.

FootballMom - I have begun working on the list of gas stations. It's a long list. Who knew there were that many gas stations in the Mobile area? Fax numbers are not available, even on the corporate sites for these places. As far as a faxing campaign, these places may not be a good fit. I am thinking that if the family split the list up they might be able to hand out fliers directly or perhaps do some sort of mass mailing. I am sure that they have already covered some of these places.

I am going through my list and trying to come up with an effective strategy, so more to come. Since the list is so long, what would be the best way to send it to you without bogging down the discussion thread?

I started doing the gas stations a few days ago and I also have a long list but no fax numbers. Football Mom: Since two people did gas station lists...if you need help sorting through the two to eliminate duplicates you can email the other one to me and I will sort them out. Hope this helps

And I don't know if US cities/towns have them, but here a common municipality office os the "Economic Development" office, who often has a complete business/service directory, available often in print and online.

Another option would be a BIA if one is there(Business Improvement Association)

BBM. Thanks for offering your insight. Everything you said makes complete sense. In respect to staff reductions, I think that there are many times that reporters want to spend more time on a particular story. They just don't have the final say on what is reported. In this case, I saw where one of the reporters responded to comments on the station's FB page. So, I know that reporter was at least watching for interest in this case. When public interest didn't pick up, the story began to die out. And, as you said, there have been no new facts or leads that law enforcement is willing to share.

I whole heartedly agree with the fact that there has been no new coverage because there has been no new information. I KNOW this because as I emailed and reached out to the local media in Mobile..I got a response from a large network there and was told by the person responding "I talked to the Chaplain today and there is no NEW news on the case, do you have information?". Well I told him I didnt have any info for him HOWEVER if his station could possibly air BWs story again then maybe it could draw new leads and then there could possibly be NEW news to report. He responded and agreed and said it was time for them to report on the story again!! My only concern with this is that he said he spoke to the Chaplain today, but it took me and him only 5 minutes via email for him to agree to air the story again. I just hope the Chaplain is being heard when he speaks to the News and that other people contact the media to show support for the family. Maybe the media is listening when outsiders contact them!! JMO

I am not a moderator so I dont know. I posted a few links on the search for bw fb page with the fb page leaders permission and asked people to contact the media to show their support. They emailed me back immediately but I did NOT mention Websleuths because I wasnt sure of the rules. I posted the links to the FB page to help the family get support from others to contact media. They have messaged and thanked me, however I did not do that as anything to do with websleuths. I have not mentioned Websleuths to anyone. I did that as supporting the family in their efforts to get people involved. I didnt post the links here because I know we are not suppose to try and organize things like that here.
