I doubt the ME was involved as Donnie was taken to a hospital for treatment. The hospital assuredly ran a toxicology panel as they do with all suicide attempt victims. They would have results for common drugs of abuse within the hour. Prescription drugs (ie antidepressants) can be measured within a short time too. Donnie was considered as an organ donor so I doubt his tox panel was that bad or the family would have been told he wasn't eligible.

IIRC the family consented when asked about organ donation, but in the end his organs were not harvested as he had been in intensive care for too long. Traumatic brain injury often results in other organs failing.

Not to mention they were probably roasted from drugs, alcohol, poor diet and who knows what else.

ETA - I see I was a day late and a dollar short on my thoughts on his organs.

Any interstate activity in connection with child sex crimes could get the feds involved, yes.

Members of the public do not have any legal rights to force LE or prosecutors to handle a case any particular way. Family members might have "victims' rights" if there is a victims' rights statute in AL. But even they can't direct the investigation or prosecution or sue anyone if the cases are not handled properly.

I read a little bit about the case, but not enough to know what LE's strategy might be. My guesses about the quotes you mentioned are: (1) there is no evidence of foul play (although there might be strong reasons to suspect foul play), and (2) there is no evidence that the child sex crimes are connected to BW's disappearance.

BBM AZ.....I understand this to be the rule as well. However, in extreme cases, do citizens have the ability to contact either a State's Attorney General or State Police and ask for them to investigate? I don't know it would be applicable in this case. I may be thinking of situations where a department is rife with corruption or something but for some reason I thought in limited situations, outside assistance could be requested by citizens, though not necessarily granted just because requested.

Does the Attorney General's Office investigate or prosecute alleged crimes?

Answer:

"The Attorney General's Criminal Division investigates and prosecutes crime throughout the State. However, criminal cases which are local in effect are rarely prosecuted by the Attorney General. Such cases are more appropriately pursued by local officials and citizens are urged to bring such cases to their local police and county prosecutor. The types of cases that are typically investigated and prosecuted by this office are:

crimes where the state is a victim;
political corruption and police corruption;
cases of statewide significance where the prosecutor has rejected the case or asked for assistance;

cases where the prosecutor has been disqualified; and,
Organized crime, racketeering and money laundering."

I'm not from Michigan and I don't know the practical meaning of the above, but I happened across this FAQ while surfing. I don't know the facts would support it, but the two bolded sections could arguably apply, no? I don't think it would be an automatic deal, but more along the lines of begging and pleading with the AG to take the case. I'll see if I can find anything similar in Alabama. I guess what I was saying earlier is that it wouldn't hurt to make a phone call and ask them, what, if any, criminal cases their office would work on.:twocents:

Depending on the location where the crimes occurred and if the owner of the asset(s) had knowledge or was also involved in the crimes... I'd say a nice beach condo or river house would fetch a decent return when the real estate market recovers.

I'm not clear on whether or not a sex ring/trafficking is considered a federal offense or if it can be limited to state charges.

I'd say that based on what we do know (which is not even the whole story) it could very well be considered a sex ring/trafficking.

:please:PLEASE let that constitute federal charges!!!! We need some news that the FBI could start showing up in big black suburbans with dark tinted windows & pounding on some doors! :jail:

Of course these are questions we should ask our legal experts to confirm. :smiliescale:

(p.s... Shout out to Wendy & MWK! You gals hunkered down together for the storm in Wendy's trailer out in Bay Minette?)

:saythat:

FBM and AZ - Another thought on the federal charges. And I'm not saying they would automatically want to take the case, but wouldn't the use of the internet or mail also give them jurisdiction over a case? I'm thinking pictures, videos, money transfers, communications in general etc...I could be way wrong on that, but I thought it was pretty simple for the feds to get jurisdiction if they want jurisdiction.

(SNIPPED FOR SPACE)

06/06/12 @ 10:10 PM - Someone posts - She (BH) was at CW's last time I saw her was Friday before last . DH told me that she called him wanting to come stay but he told her he wasnt staying here he was staying in wilcox ,if she could find away she could come .he told her that because she could never find a ride anywhere while she here.

(SNIPPED FOR SPACE)

BBM

Should that be BW...not BH?

Thanks for the timeline! I wish this case had enough going on to warrant its own forum. Then we could break things out. Maybe one day LE will actually see that it's a strong possibility that BW didn't disappear of her own free will. I think there are far too many 'coincidences' that say otherwise.

UPDATED TIMELINE

Oh dangit! I just printed this out, highlited on word the parts that were vital when scanning over it (yes, I'm getting dead serious about figuring things out and catching up), taking initials out and putting names in, taking and putting who the relatives were when it said "another relative posted.." when I knew who it was (so the ones I didn't, I could ask about and understand things"... and now an update lol ;)

When you're on this case as much as myself and many others, having a physical copy to reference when reading updated news or opinions, it tends to help immensely. Now I know where I'm missing bits and pieces, which are probably vital to assumptions. It's about 8pages if I remember (I don't want to walk into my office), if anyone else cares to do the same by printing it out. Another nice thing (thank you FBmom) is that it gave me a chance to edit, proof read and learn to disassemble something the way we are learning in writing class I'm attending. And I was actually really into the subject. I think I found my presentation to Sociology on that fits perfectly (one case is chosen to be worked on by the class).

Okay, now for a question that maybe we know and maybe we had asked etc: Did we fully eliminate any friends as being culprits or suspects in her disappearance? Granted it's still just a "missing persons case" with "no foul play" but by looking over her friends statements in the upcoming dates (which I need to figure out a timeline for that) compared against statements that are in the new family timeline - it looks more suspicious in various ways:

1. the vacation that was talked about between 3 people
2. Those 3 people stopped posting the day Brittney disappeared but began posting again within a week after she was reported missing
3. These same people were more than active online, with daily if not more than daily updates / arguments and the like.
4. She was reported to have been with at least 1 (maybe 2) of those people or headed to their house last.
5. Since then, some have very active in posting about her missing - even ones she argued with within days of her last known spotting.

I believe full well that the relative who had witnessed her at ICU (why did he think that would even be believed?) did so to throw people off.

The entire bit about cell phone checking is still a big trail to Wendy

Some of the more seedier and disgusting comments on random MSM forums were most likely written by people Brittney did not get along with in real life, based on compared writing structure and things said. There was still venom there.

It's very strange indeed

I have another site that's not sleuths but instead reports on crimes, to which I belong. I haven't posted our timelines (with credit given of course to the writer if I were to) but something needs to be updated as people read over there rather frequently because it's linked via MANY celeb gossip websites (various traffic from all over the world), and that's how I found it. If this is OK to do, please PM me and let me know and if or what I need to leave out, how to cite the source and such. People are speculating in the wrong areas and or losing interest because they all believe she ran off. Again, they aren't sleuthing, just reporting on what MSM sites state and nothing more. I think this would be a great community effort to do as her 90 days approaches, to give new life to the subject and put pressure on some people. Right now it's MSM and here, and more here than anywhere else that people are I think reading (which are guilty of tampering in the very least). I notice when we say certain things, talk about certain people - their facebook changes or their subjects talked about takes a weird turn.

Just thoughts as I try and wake up for this test in physics that I'm really not ready for at 8:30am.

Astrokitty, in your timeline above you write: "I believe full well that the relative who had witnessed her at ICU (why did he think that would even be believed?) did so to throw people off."

If you mean Brittney was seen at the ICU, it's incorrect. DH JR said she was seen by a neighbor at the river house on Saturday while Donnie was in the ICU.

Oh wait.. what? In the comments I read, he stated he had seen her? See this is what confuses the hell out of me. I need names otherwise it's muddled . UGH But I didn't write his name or make a timeline. Footballmom did.. so either I'm dense right now or just totally not understanding. I don't know, i had a long day at school.

I thought I had read or something, that Donald Holland JR stated brittney was at the ICU (which she wasn't) and the NEIGHBOR had stated he had seen Brittney in the backyard at Donald Holland Sr's swing in the backyard, non respondent. So .. now I'm totally confused.

Astrokitty, it was from DH JR's comments on a WKRG facebook posting June 7. I have it bookmarked but I'm not sure I can link here. For whatever reason DH JR wants Brittney placed at the river on Saturday.

Off to work, back later!

It has been refuted that the neighbor actually saw Brittney. The neighbor confused another neighbor's child from across the street, and it was not BW.

  • #471
I can't remember who talked about it, but following the thought that BW maybe left voluntarily and clubs etc... should be checked, what if those friends that went on "vacation" around the time of Brittney's disappearance actually helped her get out of town and helped her get to Florida or wherever that was. I'm just trying to rack my brain on possibilities and I know it's not the most likely, but I didn't know if flyers/word had gotten to that part of the country to keep an eye out for Brittney.

<modsnip>

RBM - Well this relative got it wrong because this MSM article about the neighbor seeing BW doesn't even mention a man!

Snip- Investigators returned to the house searching for her cell phone or any other clues. Neighbor Laura Payne says she saw Brittney at the house sitting in a tree swing. "She had the same body type, the same hair and she just sat there. She didn't move or nothing. She looked over at me and I waved at her and she didn't wave back."

I dooo declare I believe I have a case of the vapors! LOL! :floorlaugh:

Astrokitty - Footballmom didn't even type a word in her response. Her entire post was a copy/paste of facebook comments.

Please take another look...it's all just two facebook posts.

actually if anyone is copy and pasting facebook comments that is a :nono: and everyone needs to go back and police their own posts.
