Just curious, how do they know it's Brittney's cell phone battery if they never found her cell phone?

Cell phone batteries are interchangeable right?

Oh thank you so much for asking this, I hope someone answers because I have been turning that same question over in my head but didn't want to ask.:seeya:

Don't the original ones that come with the phone have a sticker or printed code that matches the phone?

ETA Maybe they identified the phone from a receipt. I think Brittney had just changed her service and maybe bought a new phone because of that?

I don't know if a phone and a battery have matching codes. Maybe a poster will check their phone and report back. Still, it seems a great leap for LE to state positively it was Brittney's cell phone battery when they don't even have her phone. Who's to say she didn't have a spare battery, or any other number of scenarios. I can't help but feel I'm being spoon fed info. I just can't figure out why.

Nothing to see here folks, move along. :fence:

I am glad to see there is finally some movement on this case. I have been checking in and feeling frustrated on the lack of activity.

I can answer that there is nothing to specifically link a battery to a phone other than its the right size battery. Most people don't carry a spare battery but some phones have an SD card which is removable and basically like a tiny flash drive that can store things like photos and videos so you don't use up all the internal storage space on your phone. Anyone know what kind of phone she had?

Interesting that it was separated from the phone. A struggle? A bit of clumsiness in hiding evidence?

I'm not convinced DH shot himself. Odd to leave the house to drive down the road to shoot yourself in your truck. I doubt LE searched the truck for anythingas it "obviously" appeared to be a suicide. I hope cell phone records were looked at for both twins and the best friend

Edit: add info about cell phones

FMK...CW said that she identified the battery because of scratches it had on it that she remembered. Now, you can take that bit of info for what it's worth being as who it came from. :notgood:

"All we reported to the family is that we had information through our investigation that puts [Wood] in the Grand Bay area or south Mobile County at or around same time [Holland] is committing suicide,” Levy said. "We don’t have any reason to believe that Brittney is not alive and we are continuing to investigate this as missing person.”

So, in order to place Brittney in the Grand Bay area at the same time Donnie is committing suicide, LE must have something other than a cell phone ping. Since her cell phone battery is in Donnie's truck. :phone:

I honestly don't think it's her battery. IIRC, someone mentioned that they had several cell phones around the house. Knowing that it is her battery for sure just seems a little far fetched to me

So I don't have to keep editing my post...

You have to remove the back of the phone to access the SD card. It's about the same size as the SIM card (which is the thing that holds the phone info such as number and your carrier info etc so you can connect to towers for phone service). The phone will not work as a phone without the SIM card meaning you cannot make or receive phone calls without it. There are ways around that if you are tech savvy but I doubt that applies here

Why would the battery have scratches and how would CW know it did?

Does anyone know what happened today at the hearing? It was today wasn't it?

I don't believe it's Britt's battery. Consider the source of the identification.
This is the same person who:
-claimed at first Britt left 'on foot',
-who has supported her sisters, brother, and
brothers in law in the most horrifying child sexual molestation/rape/abuse charges,
-claimed she was unaware that Britt was abused until LE told her,
-lied about things Britt's daughter has said when she hasn't
even made contact with her in 11 months...etc, etc.

I could go on, but you get the picture.
Finding the battery in DH's truck points to one person. DH.

"Two men who were arrested last year in connection with a sex abuse investigation were denied youthful offender status today.

Derek Wood, 21, of Mobile, and Donald Holland Jr., 21, of Daphne, had youthful hearings before Circuit Court Judge Jody Bishop."

"Wood is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl."

Thanks CW and gliving! I read every single day but rarely post. Guess I should have remained patient and trusted the info would be posted soon!

Not a virtue patience, and this case tests all.

You are good - when I heard 'denied' I forgot about posting it. :blushing:

Now that we know LE was looking to talk to Brittney before she went missing, that she most likely was a victim of this sex ring herself, & that's she's the "golden nugget" that could bring all of the sex abuse cases together...

I wonder if when Brittney first went missing LE thought she must have thought she might be charged with something because she was over 18, knew about the sexual abuse (maybe witnessed the sexual abuse of others? heard about it?) and didn't report it, she would be charged in some way, even if she was a victim herself. [I'm also thinking about how her parents claim that LE told them her brother was also a victim here, not that I believe Brittney was involved in abusing anyone in anyway- I just think maybe LE thought that she thought she'd get in trouble for knowing about the abuse of minors and never reporting it] I also seem to remember Chessie saying to the media in the early days that she had a message for Brittney- that she'd spoken to LE & Brittney wasn't in any trouble.

Once a few days passed, LE should have realized (if they did indeed believe she was hiding to avoid talking to LE) that she absolutely did NOT have the means to hide out for a long period of time. Just look at her brother- he couldn't manage to hide out long and I doubt Brittney could have either. Then the search should have changed from "she's in hiding" to "something really bad happened here." Although I think they should have thought something bad may have happened right away in any case.

And IF LE had info that leads them to believe that is Brittney's phone battery (aside from just Chessie saying it was), that should have been a big red flag that she was not in hiding and that something really bad had happened and that the people who were at/in that truck when Donnie was found (including Donnie himself), probably hold/held the key to what happened to Brittney.

I'll say this... Donnie was shot with Brittneys gun. I have my own opinion of who shot him

~Team Brittney~

Wasn't someone who found Donnie in his truck claiming all over FB that he shot himself with a rifle? Brittney's gun, best I recall, was not a rifle.
