Deceased/Not Found AL - Carla Corley, 14, Birmingham, 12 Aug 1980

My big questions on this case when looking into it were, why on earth did the mom not call the police IMMEDIATELY when she woke up and Rebecca was missing? Her sister apparently called for days and the mom lied able her being out with friends. Why? Not to mention the fact that when I tried to look up the case in the newsletter archives from the area, the only time Rebecca's name came up was in a small add with other missing children. How are you not making enough of a stink over your missing daughter to at least get a mention or two in some local papers?

I found a Namus case file (UP5011) that could be a possible for her. The unidentified lady was found in 07 but the namus profile said the estimated year of death could be anywhere from 1950 to 2007, which is an insane gap in time. It also said the height was 5ft and Carla was 5'1. The age range is from 30-40 and if she disappeared when she was 14 it would be a fairly accurate age. The age progression photo of Carla also favors the reconstruction of the unidentified woman. Is there anyway to find out who has been eliminated as a possible match already?

A month earlier, three men raped her!? Were they not arrested...or ever caught?
IMO, prime suspects!

I'm curious if the mother named or described the men who gang raped carla especially if they came to her house banging on the door , I've read that she supposedly didn't know about the rape but she must've known about the men who came to their door and couldn't get it since they didn't have ring cameras or maybe a neighbor seen them but im small towns at that time, you know most everyone so how could she or the police not had some idea who these men were. Or the sister if they were that close and she was from there did she maybe describe or mention what men had been around her sister or just generally suspicious in a sexual preditor way since it was a smaller town . Also I wonder how the sister was threatened should she continue searching for Carla, letter, in person etc. Because that would mean the person who threatened her was almost certainly involved. The mother does seem suspicious as to why she wouldn't have gone to the police when her daughter went missing and not report men trying to take her teenage daughter from their apartment. Maybe drugs were involved and the mother maybe sold her on occasion to these men at least thats how I comes off. I just feel that more should be dug up for this poor child from her mother and sister especially if she and her sister was that close .
