I wonder how much the sheriff actually knows. The US Marshalls have been in charge almost since the beginning. How much info would they share with him?
Yeah, I can't imagine he's being told anything at this point. The search is going on elsewhere, and I doubt there's any reason for the Marshals to keep him in the loop.

Anyone feel kinda sorry for VW? I mean she doesn’t seem to have a large network of friends. She isn’t conventionally attractive. She never found love other than her drug-addicted ex. I read somewhere recently (can’t remember where) that she really didn’t speak a whole lot. What did that big lunk say to her that made her feel like this was what she wanted to do with the rest of her life? Did he tell her she was pretty? Did he make her feel noticed? I dunno. It makes me sad for her. I want to read the book already. When are they taking pre-orders? Lol.

Absolutely NOT AT ALL. Not in the slightest.

She may not have been a beauty but she's not some weird freak either. IMO.

I've known, we've all known, people less attractive than her who have men in their lives. She was married, after all; she's not an "old maid." If she was only married for a short time, no children, that doesn't prevent her from dating in the real world, or going on those dating websites, or going to places where she could meet people who are NOT behind bars after a lifetime of violence.

In the hotel video where she seems very anxious, we can see her pacing around. IMO she doesn't look like she's waddling. Maybe some kind of limp or arthritis. She also does not look terribly overweight, just an ordinary middle-aged body. She looks less matronly in that striped-shirt picture than in her uniform picture.

The former employee who was let go is IMO making her sound worse looking than she is. She doesn't look 75, (granted he's seen her in person and I haven't), but to me that's clearly a stretch. And he says "nobody was surprised" to hear that Vicky did this, while the sheriff and others at the jail said they're completely astonished. Even former inmates say that.

I feel sorry for Ukrainians being bombarded in basements. That kind of thing. I have exactly zero sympathy for her. If she was lonely, or bored, or frustrated, or miserable, she could have turned her post-retirement life in any direction she chose.

That THIS is her choice? I actually hate her. People are going to die due to the actions of these two. If not, she has still at the very least broken her elderly mother, and is causing taxpayers' money to be spent searching for them.

All MOO

I wonder if they had an ATV (or ATVs) stashed somewhere or had access/ability to use them?

He’s got contacts with the white supremacy group. His tats show some affiliation..maybe they are hiding him out in the woods
He could be a wanna-be. Or maybe the tats are from the past. The pair has a $25K bounty on their collective heads right now. That’s enough to sway any “loyal” gang member.

This came out on the day WS was down for a bit for the new update. Just making sure you all saw it.

Snipped...
...
As for Vicky, the correction officer who apparently absconded with Casey, Abernathy had one question: “Why?"

“What I’m afraid of is she’s not even alive anymore,” Abernathy said.

“To me, she was a means to an end.”

I think what this case illustrates too is people are dumbfounded by human behavior especially when they thought they knew someone before the person committed the unthinkable. Vicky's mother must be rerunning a thousand memories and conversations in her mind trying to pinpoint an explanation for her daughter's recent actions in hopes of appeasing her anguish.
Great point. I bet her mother and mother-in-law and the DA and other coworkers are all beating themselves up about why they didn’t see this coming. And wondering “did I even know who she really was?” Or “what about the time she did x? Was that real or was that just part of the plan?”

The reality is that everyone dies. Maybe she decided going out in a blaze of glory or "high" in love is better than a slow, agonizing death that old age can bring (like what she surely observed with her ex-husband with his Parkinson's). I just watched my own mom through an agonizing death (two types of stage 4 cancer). It's rough. It's brutal. Maybe to VW, a shorter life with a quick end may be immensely more appealing. (Also, how good are long-term healthcare options in her town if she had stayed on the straight and narrow? A bad illness can quickly bankrupt someone even with insurance. I think she has thought about all this a long time and if she has that nurturing/mothering instinct some have mentioned, she's probably seen some loved ones and friends go through bad medical times, with all the ensuing potential problems -- insurance problems, treatments that harm as well as treat, loss of income, loss of mobility, painkiller addiction, etc. -- and perhaps decided she would not go out that way herself.)

I had to laugh because I thought about Misery pretty early on in this case. If she chopped off his feet, he'd be shorter and maybe less noticeable.

Yes, that's kind of a morbid joke on my part. Lol and MOO.;)

Great post. Very likely, imo.

I think she's smart and clever. I think she thought about this a long time and put her experience, observation, and knowledge to use. So far, they have been successful.

MOO.
i know i dont believe this really tbh but as long as you cant rule out the possibility its still there

I’m sure a slick convict duping a lonely CO with the promise of romance is nothing new but the extremes involved here just blow me away. This was no rookie to the inmate population but a seasoned and advanced employee who was on her very last day before retirement. Risking her freedom, security and life for a venture with very little chance of success. Smh

Exactly- she could have made any number of much better choices.

If she loved him she should have spent her money and resources getting him a good lawyer and a new trial.

True. Guess we can’t rule much out yet. I have seen things a little like this a couple of times though not as drastic, where the person was in the early stages of dementia.

Does anyone else wonder if April Davis and Renee Marie Maxwell are real people whose identities were stolen? I’m guessing that there are people (like them or others) who just aren’t coming forward to comment because they don’t want to open up even a small chance of becoming CW’s next revenge victim.

Yes! So many times I’ve wondered this. Assuming they’d feel safe enough to talk to the police. Though after the vehicle info got prematurely leaked and people started accusing the car dealer of wrong doing, others might be afraid to speak up for fear of LE’s ineptness to keep them safe.

I was wondering the same thing. She had access to a lot of information about inmates. I was wondering if she may have stolen one their identities so she could transact without detection.

BBM above. I know... I hear you. I'm sure she could have found available, kind, reliable, non-criminal men to date in her area. Maybe she has, over the years, and we don't know. Or something just "clicked" somehow between these two, which makes our heads spin. She has/had a solid job, savings, a home, car. What could he possibly give her as their only "life" now is on the run? How could she overlook his past and trust him? Not like they were going to escape and live a normal life now. As you said in your last paragraph, people will most likely die over their actions, hopefully not, but it's likely, plus the taxpayers' money issue, and that is just SO not acceptable in any way, shape or form.

I believe Davis is her maiden name. The Maxwell name may be stolen, and I would hope that if so, that victim contacted the FBI about it as soon as she knew.

Which reminds me---for those who are thinking Casey is Vicky's secret child---White is her married name. She did not give birth to Casey when she was 18. He would have been named Davis, not White, and her mother would know if her 18-year old daughter had a baby.

It's just a common name. LE has said all along there's no relation and they seem to have first crossed paths two years ago.

She could also potentially get employees info from their personnel files. Many HR systems include the employees’ SS#s and copies of their drivers licenses from when they enrolled in health insurance or set up direct deposited past checks or had to prove their citizenship/eligibility to work.

That’s right but April is not her first or middle name so April Davis could be a relative is the thinking. A few of us have been guessing she has an ID under one of these names that she likely used when she bought the vehicle.

The spray paint is odd. Who buys green spray paint to go on the run? Maybe—and I mean maybbbeeee—a planner who thinks they can camouflage the car and hide the car in the woods when they abandon it??
Very odd.
But why then, would a planner not buy a green car to hide in the woods?
I don't think there was any attempt to spray paint the car.
I can only imagine that it was sprayed on to highlight the described 'area of damage' on the back bumper, because this would work 2 ways:
It's an old car, and the paint makes it look less like anyone's 'getaway' vehicle, so even if both were seen in it before the hunt was on, they would not look like escapees. Then, after the hunt was on, it made it more likely to be noticed because everyone was looking for the orange car with the 'damage' and that was the intended use of that car?
It was left 'in the middle of the road'...... surely they wanted it to be found quickly? and it was, it was found even before they were reported missing and maybe provided the distraction and the time they wanted.
If they wanted to be seen in it, I think that part of the plan failed!

I think they’re thinking it could be a child who took the name of Tommy White, her ex-husband. But the timeframe of when they were married doesn’t line up for that (tho one doesn’t have to be married to conceive a child!). I agree however. Likely not at all related and just coincidence.

Or her birth month?
