GUILTY AL - Cherri Dawson, 31, pregnant, Auburn, 8 Oct 2011

Wow, so her burned car and these remains were found in 2 different counties.

The latest link doesn't say how far the remains were from Cherri's car.

Whether or not this is Cherri, it's beyond heartbreaking that she was last seen shopping for baby clothes (while pregnant). :(

I find that to be very sad also. She was excited about her future with a new baby. It makes me want to cry for her, and for her unborn child.

I know, Elly Mae. She has a 7 year-old, too (who hasn't heard from her).

I didn't see any mention of a b-f/husband or ex(es). Surely LE is looking into that along with whatever else they've found. Was there any evidence in her burned car?

ETA: I see now that her son is with his father. Wonder if he's the father of the unborn baby, too?

And who is this man that she was presumed to be talking to on the phone? And why does Barnes think that?

I got the idea that her family knew she'd be talking to this man at that particular time. Maybe she said she was going to call him. I also got the idea that her family did not approve of him. I suspect it's the father of her unborn child, and that he did not welcome the news about a new baby. Maybe the catalyst for murder was shopping for baby clothes. That somehow made it more real, and made dealing with the situation a little more imperative for a man who doesn't want to be a father. Maybe she asked him for financial help with the new baby.
I think the family either knows, or has a strong suspicion who took Cherri, but can't say it publicly, of course.

You notice that there seem to have been no pleas from the unborn baby's father expressing concern for Cherri and for his child. Wouldn't you think he'd be worried sick if he cared? We only hear from her family.

R.I.P. Cherri :rose:

I hope that justice is swift against her boyfriend Keith Lamar Ware (if he is guilty).

Terribly sad news.

How awful for her family....especially her 7 year old son.

RIP Cherri.

Why isn't he being charged with 2 counts of murder instead of 1? Is there a certain criteria for being charged with the murder of an unborn child?

http://www.alexcityoutlook.com/2014/12/02/plea-deal-reached-in-2011-murder-case/

Keith Lamar Ware, 32, had been facing the potential of life in prison without parole in a capital murder trial after being charged in the death of Cherri Nicole Dawson, 31, of Auburn on Oct. 8, 2011. Dawson was reportedly five months pregnant with Ware’s child at the time of her death.

Ware’s Attorney Mark Allen Treadwell said that his client made a “best interest plea,” agreeing Monday morning to enter the guilty plea on a standard murder charge. Under the terms of the agreement, Ware was given a 20-year sentence.

I think if I were the family I'd have to ask the prosecutors to take their best shot. Don't think I could stomach a deal that can let him out in 6-8 years.
