A skull and mandible were discovered inside a metal box approximately 8-9 feet off the side of the roadway and in a small stand of woods. The metal box was found to be an electronics safe that was manufactured in 2004. The metal box also contained an older style Nintendo game controller.

yeah my first thought is grave robbery, lotta weird "edgelords" out there looking for human remains in poorly-maintained rural graveyards, I feel like (as a mid-millenial, apparently) I knew a ton of people ca. 2004 (offline and online) who would have found a washed-up human mandible and gone "huhuhuhuhuh COOL" and kept it.
