Well this is horrifying. If her car was driven away by a potential assailant that makes me wonder if her attacker was known to her. Similarly that the dog was unharmed (poor pup).

Makes me furious that yet another woman is attacked in a park while out walking/exercising/being in the middle of the day!! (Not that any attack anywhere at anytime is acceptable, I hope that goes without saying.)

This is horrifying. Dr. sounds like she was an exemplary human being who was very well educated and had true love and compassion for animals. She was also known for training the next generation of veterinarians.

Disgusting that she encountered a depraved evil doer and his actions ended her beautiful life. I am so sad for her loved ones and for her own loss of working so hard and being robbed of her retirement years. Praying for justice and a miracle that women can eventually be safe walking, jogging and just living their lives. We aren't now. RIP Dr Julie.

FWIW, around the 2300 block of Beehive Road where he was noted as "suspicious," there is a wrecker service. Wonder if he was there with her truck for some reason? Did he want to steal her vehicle because he needed transporation to go pick up a towed car, but she wouldn't give him access to her truck?? idk. Totally a guess in the dark atm.

“After further investigation, Dabney was confirmed to be the suspect responsible for the homicide, and he was charged with two counts of capital murder,” law enforcement officials said. “Dabney was transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held without bond. The red Ford F-150, belonging to Schnuelle and stolen by Dabney subsequent to the homicide, has been recovered.”

The Auburn community is reeling after the tragic murder of retired Auburn University professor Dr. Julie Gard Schnuelle. On September 6, 2025, Dr. Schnuelle was fatally stabbed while walking her dog at Kiesel Park—a place she loved and frequented. Her dog was found safe, but the loss of such a beloved educator and mentor has left a deep wound.
Auburn Police have arrested Harold Rashad Dabney III, 28, of Montgomery, and charged him with two counts of capital murder. Investigators say Dabney stole Dr. Schnuelle’s red Ford F-150 truck after the attack and was apprehended the next morning following a tip about a suspicious person on Beehive Road.
Public records show Dabney had prior run-ins with law enforcement, including a 2023 weapons charge in Virginia and a short-lived trucking business in Montgomery that never gained proper operating authority.
Dr. Schnuelle was a respected professor of Large Animal and Food Animal Medicine at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She was known for her brilliance, compassion, and dedication to students and animals alike.
Let’s honor her legacy and demand accountability. Auburn deserves answers, and Dr. Schnuelle’s family deserves justice.
