My guess is they never actually left.
Very possible. I think the key to the case no matter what is with that friend.

I agree with this .My first thought was drug deal. I am in no way saying drugs were involved but it explains them going somewhere AND that the friend started calling looking for them almost immediately (if true). IF he gave them money to go score then he was probably pretty pissed or pretty scared pretty quickly (didnt he start trying to track them down almost immediately or am i misremembering?) Either a "those mf'ers ran off with my money, where the hell are they?" anger or a "Man I TOLD them not to mess with those bad dudes" fear.
Again just my immediate thought when I read the story. NO info that drugs were involved; however, even if they were, these boys' killer (s) need to be caught and those two should still be alive.
Really hoping this doesn't sound wrong.

It’s been more than a year since the bodies of two missing men were found dead in rural Macon County and the mother of one of them said the grief seems to be getting worse, not better, with time.
Atlanta-based rapper Edward Reeves, also known as Bambino Gold, and promoter Kendrick Stokes, also known as Skooly, disappeared from Montgomery on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2017. Their bodies were discovered Nov. 17 and Nov. 18, 2017, about four miles apart.
No arrests have been made in the double slaying and Stokes’ mother said that compounds the pain.
