It is Still a high crime area. I dont even drive through the area, it is gang infested. If I had to live there I surely wouldn't give me child this much freedom, heck as an adult I wouldn't walk alone to a cousins house in Prichard. About 10 years ago I got lost in Mobile and ended up in Prichard, I stopped at a store in broad daylight to ask for directions and somebody rushed me with a knife in hand, I ran with all my former high school track glory, almost to my car I fell and landed on both knees, just about that time a cop pulled through the store parking lot, no doubt he saved my life. My knees were torn to shreds though. I' m praying this little girl is OK but I don't have a good feeling.

I can tell it hasn't changed much for the local news when I'm in Mobile. I sure hope Hawayi is OK, but I don't have a good feeling either.

I don't think she wandered off on her own. There was a really terrible storm that came through the area around the time that she was reported missing. It wasn't as bad around the time that she walked to her cousin's apartment but it was getting cranked up. I don't think any child would have wandered off alone with the weather being so bad. I pray she is found soon. There are 26 RSOs in Prichard, AL.

A scary storm approaching would make it pretty easy to convince a little girl that she needed a ride. :(

Search efforts have resumed to locate 8-year-old Hiawayi D'iland Robinson, who went missing in Prichard.
The girl's grandmother, Brenda Populus says she is thankful so many people are helping out with the search and is making another plea to Hiawayi D'iland Robinson to find a phone and call home.

When asked if she believes the girl's father had anything to do with her disappearance, Populus says she can't bring herself to think about that being a possibility. Senator Vivian Figures and Representative Napolean Bracy have joined the search again this morning. Class Kids organizations from Mississippi and Florida are also on their way. Word is they are increasing the number of K-9 units in the search.

Robinson was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday while walking towards her cousin's apartment at St. Stephens Woods Apartments. News 5 will be at the search headquarters today and will bring you updates throughout the day.

The FBI is requesting you call 1-800-CALL FBI if you have any information that will help. There will be another press conference in Prichard at 3:30pm today.

I grew up in Mobile. Prichard was considered a very high crime area at that time (years ago). I hope it has changed but from my trips back to see my 93 year old Dad and my friends who are still there, there has been a little improvement but still pretty crime riddled. Also, the proximity to major water scares me for this cutie-pie.

I live in Mobile and Prichard has not changed, unfortunately.

I'm praying for her safe return - bittersweet news.

She may be in danger - but sounds like she's probably alive.

At least that's what I'm getting from the latest posts -have to go back and check out the news sites in detail.

Thanks to all who are keeping us posted.
