Identified! AL - Huntsville, Female 148UFAL, 15-19, Oct'97 - Cynthia Davis

NOTE: The chipped tooth happened AFTER the remains were found. There is a gap in her front teeth though.

I have seen this thread:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15485
Where its very clearly stated that Kristina Bishop was eliminated by dental comparison.

NOTE: I used the age progressed photo for Jennifer (bottom) because it shows her features more clearly.

Jennifer Jane Hughes

Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance

# Missing Since: December 1996 from Fayetteville, North Carolina
# Classification: Endangered Missing
# Date Of Birth: January 9, 1979
# Age: 17 years old
# Height and Weight: 5'2, 110 pounds
# Distinguishing Characteristics: Reddish-blonde hair, blue eyes.

1. I think the photos strongly match the reconstruction.
2. Jennifer disappeared December 1996, Jane Doe is estimated to have died between April 1996 to October 1996 - this is close enough for me.
3. Jennifer was 17, Jane Doe was estimated to be 15-19
4. Jennifer had Reddish Blonde hair, Jane Doe had shoulder length dark blond or light brown hair with a possible reddish tint.
5. Jennifer is listed as 5'2" which is 1" taller than Jane Doe
6. Jennifer is listed as missing from Fayetteville, North Carolina, but she was last seen with her older sister who was loading a van to go to Sylacauga, Alabama. Jane Doe was found in Huntsville, Alabama. These two locations are 148 miles apart (3.5 hours).

Note: If this is Jennifer she was travelling with 3 other family members, her sister and 2 kids. None of them have ever been seen again. Please see the Charley Project link for more info.

I've sent an email as I think this is a good tip. If I'm wrong they can just toss the information.

Hey, everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know that I took the advice from someone on here and started a webpage for cold cases from north alabama. The Huntsville Doe is included on my site and is first, of course :). I have never created my own web page before, so it is kind of a work in progress. Hopefully it will improve in functionality as I learn more! :o The second case I mentioned on my site is actually my friend Lori's grandmother who went missing from Florence, AL in 1977. Pretty interesting.

Here is a link to my page:
www.alabamacoldcases.com

Hey, PONDERINGTHINGS, where are u from? Sounds like you have been finding some interesting possibilities with our Huntsville girl. Maybe we can chat about it. Oh, and by the way...I also emailed the producer of Dateline NBC (it's on the homepage of Websleuths) with info about Lori's grandmother and the Huntsville Doe. He wrote me back today and was very nice! He looked at my site   !! He said there are thousands of stories that they are looking at, but that he would definitely check out mine.

I did more research and its my belief that Jane Doe is Jennifer Jane Hughes. She was supposedly heading to Alabama when she vanished with other family members.

The reasons and references are listed here.

I sent an email in but never received any kind of reply.

Ponderingthings,
When I talked with Sgt. Berry in November, he'd mentioned the names of the people that have been tested with dental records and I am pretty sure he mentioned Jennifer Hughes, because he mentioned something about the family being missing too and that it is a girl from NC. Also, I just recently talked to Sgt. Berry, (who is really great btw), and told him about my website. I asked him about a possibility that I had, Kayce McDaniel from Milan, TN. He said they have already done a comparason w/her to and that, too, is negative. :( Well, if we keep trying, one day we will get a match :)
Lauren
Hope u are having a good weekend!

I agreed after looking at the 2 they look like a match but apparently Kristina Bishop was ruled out by dentals.
just bumping to ask where you found the information that Kristina was ruled out by dentals?

Thanks

This is my first time doing this, so please bear with me. I have been poring over the details of this case for 3 days now and I was wondering if there is anything that stands out or is missing. There aren't too many details except for the fact that there IS some DNA available on the remains. Please help me in my first sleuth by correcting anything I may have overlooked?

ok fixed pic

It's interesting, they both have a front right chipped tooth.

MrsG...I think you got something there!
Have you reported this to the doenetwork and the Waynesboro
PA PD
and the Madison County, Alabama Sheriffs Dept.
I would contact all three because it is becoming apparent that LE agencies do not communicate well with each other or the citizens that voluntarily work these cases. jmo

I hope it's truly a match. The mouth area especially looks similar.

Good luck!

  • #76
this is too close to ignore, if I were you, I would contact le right away and let them know of this, you can copy the links down or tell le exactly how to navigate to this page and let them see that the comparison is close enough to check the dna from the remains to the dna of the case evidence they have on file of her.

Mrs G...You are definitely on to something! The teeth especially look like a match from the photo.
1. Height is in range of UID and Angie.
2. Date Angie reported missing to discovery of UID is plausible, 2 years. Their estimate could be off on remains by weather conditions affection decomposition.
3. Age is within Angie's at time of disappearance.
4. Hair color could match.
5. The facial bone structure, especially the forehead. Both are high and wide.

I think this needs to get reported to the authoritis to compare dentals and DNA.

ETA: Remains had on a sleeveless top, Angie disappeared in August. Noticed in Angies missing photo...a broad striped top.

  • #78
Yes, this could definitely be a match! And the fact that the remains were skeletal could be why there is no mention of the scar or tattoo. Go Mrs G! Keep us updated!!

  • #79
Good possibility! Definitely check in w/ law enforcement!

  • #80
The photos look a LOT alike. Definately pass it on! Good job.
