I just read an updated version of the above article. If she had one family member with her during the day, and one at night, how was she able to slip away, especially with her bed disturbed the way it was?
Moore stays with her mother during the day and Moore’s brother stays with her at night. She was sound asleep in her bed the last time anyone saw her. When Moore returned to the house after work, the door was wide open, and the mattress was half off the bed. One of Campbell’s shoes was by the sofa and the other was on the front porch.
Campbell was nowhere to be seen. “The door was unlocked and wide and open that is something she doesn’t do,‘' Moore said. “It really bothered me.”
UPDATE: July 10th: The Birmingham Police Department issued a new photo of Mrs. Irene Campbell, as efforts continue to find her. If you see Mrs. Campbell, call 205-297-8434.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — (8/3): Authorities continue to search for missing 81-year-old Irene Campbell.
The senior has been missing since June 16.
— UPDATE (6/24): The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District says that the Birmingham Police Department told them that 81-year-old Irene Campbell may be somewhere in the area of the Collegeville public housing community.
Mattress half off the bed doesn't sound odd to me. When I was working night shift in aged care, numerous times I found mattresses on the floor, leaning against the wall or leaning against the bed . Also these residents were not large strong people.
When I would ask you what happened , they wouldn't know. MOO
Years ago when we were kids...like 60yrs......my dad got a call to tell him that his mother wandered off again. This was before the word 'dementia' was in people's vocabulary.
So, i dont find it unusual for her to have walked a ways out of range.........jmo
