Interesting comments from AG Investigator Shawn Smith. It would be nice if he could come on here to confirm those statements.

If this is not a massive cover up and conspiracy then there are a lot of people lying to make it look like it is. Which would be a conspiracy in itself. Either way.... there is a conspiracy. And where there is a conspiracy there is corruption.

As i have said before, they need a federal task force without any ties to Alabama.

BBM Shawn actually joined Websleuths when he first started working on the case. I don't recall the name he penned under, but it was something like "Homicide Cop" or similar to that. He only posted a few times and was mainly asking anyone with information on the case to please contact him.

Just a couple of thoughts: Did you notice the funkiness in the way Shawn Smith's words are punctuated? Quotes are only around the statement "First time it has happened to me in 30 years..." not around the fact OPD will not cooperate with him. Normally I would think it was an oversight with quotation marks, but with the HCR, I feel sure it's probably tricky journalism and not just a punctuation error.

Also, I would like to add that there has been a self-identified "person of interest" (from the Wiregrass boards) who has persistently blamed the cops over the last few years. (I recently saw a post by him on a Dothan Eagle article, written under an alias, in which he said JB was having an affair with a married cop.) Before that, he blamed white supremacists (he holds similar views), a private investigator, and a guardian. This guy has the gift of gab and is a fairly prolific poster on social media.

Yup i know, so if those comments have been misconstrued in anyway it would be fairly easy for him to come on here and let us know. No need to have any false statements floating around out there.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that this documentary is going get people talking again?
Seems like things are starting to ramp up with this case once again. I sure hope so. This case needs closure.

I have personally heard the audio tape of Shawn Smith saying that and it is included in a documentary that covers the region in production. Smith has an excellent reputation as homicide investigator (Montgomery PD) and I would assume he can bring resolution to this matter if its possible to solve.
What was more interesting to me is the fact that there was a victim list of over 50 (unsolved murders or missing presumed dead) in a such small rural 3-4 county area.

@ bulldog23
Im assuming this person ( i guess i can't say his name here) is who I am aware of. He has the tape theory that he has put out. If I am correct he was a investigator for a former lawyer in Dothan (now deceased) but he was also a police officer in Dothan for a time. Note Im not agreeing or disagreeing with his theories. But he has been very vocal for many years and not only commented above as described using multiple alias, he wrote docs to the attorney general if I am not mistaken that have been leaked describing his "tape" theory and the alleged affair issue.

Could be wrong but i don't think that is who bulldòg is speaking of. Bulldog?
