A circuit judge made two rulings on Monday in the Lowndes County triple-homicide case of Deandre Lee.

Circuit Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell granted Lee and his attorney the right to view and inspect the vehicle that is being used as evidence in the case...

Lee also submitted a request regarding a private discussion, without the presence of law enforcement, between himself and his attorney on the date of the viewing of the vehicle. The judge denied this request stating that it is not possible for this to occur without the presence of law enforcement.

Does this seem an unusual request to those of you that have followed trials?

Wonder what that's all about. Perhaps he uttered something incriminating in front of LE, and he's now trying to claim it's privileged client-attorney conversation.

http://www.wsfa.com/story/26093399/triple-lowndes-co-murder-suspect-objects-to-mental-exam-order

The suspect in a triple homicide in Lowndes County is filing an objection after a judge ordered him to undergo a mental evaluation.

Deandra Lee's attorneys filed the objection in Lowndes Co. District Court saying the judge's order does not meet the requirements of the state's rules of criminal procedure or statutory and case law requirements...

The attorneys also say the judge's order is "overly broad, vague and ambiguous," as well as adding that, "satisfying curiosity alone, is still not a proper use for this kind of motion."

4th section down:
New Trial

Court officials in Lowndes County have set a new trial date for a man charged in connection with the murders of 9-year-old twins and their 73-year-old caretaker. Defendant Deandre Lee is scheduled to go on trial on April 6th, 2015 at the courthouse in Hayneville. Lee has remained in jail since his arrest in Selma in June 2012 for the fatal shootings of Jordan and Taylor Dejerinett of Montgomery and Jack Mac Girdner. Lee has pleaded not guilty.

Another 6 month delay. grrr.

Thank you for the update, JWBS. I can't believe this case hasn't gone to trial yet. I thought Illinois was slow to get to trial, but it looks like this case will exceed the 5 year mark to get to trial.

During the court appearance in May, the defense "indicated" that they might not be ready for an October 10th trial date. Assuming he has had the same team, I wonder why they still aren't ready after almost half a decade of preparing.
