Loved ones suspect foul play in death of mom
(I edited this article a bit myself because the way it was written irritated me)

Joanna's boyfriend, Jack Storer, and her family both grew concerned Saturday morning when they couldn’t reach her. They'd gone to the police station together to file a missing persons report when they learned her body had already been found.

“Friday night, the last time I’d seen her she asked me how much I loved her, and I told her I wanted to marry her,” Jack said.

Little did he know that would be the last time he would see the woman he loved.

An officer on scene told FOX10 News ALEA had initially been called out to investigate, but turned it over to Mobile police when they couldn’t find any signs that she’d been hit by a car.

MPD traffic homicide investigators could be seen collecting any evidence they could, taking measurements of the surrounding area.

Storer says that area of Rangeline is not somewhere Ryals would walk.

“I think she was put there.”

Storer says he and Ryals were best friends.

Their close bond blossomed into romance over the years.

“She’s very funny, very lovable, very caring person, very Christian person… and I was very proud of her, you know, turning herself around.”

He says she was doing her best to turn her life around after a troubled past.

When he last saw her Friday he says something was off.

Joanna was the mother to an 8 year old daughter, with whom she shared a close bond.

MPD: Evidence consistent with woman being hit by car

The boyfriend said that something was "off" about her the last time he saw her (which was Friday, June 4, 2021). When she left his home, he did not know where she was going. Then, she turns up dead on the side of a road the next day.

It's possible to have more than one boyfriend, you know. Some people have a whole other life.

Can we get a link to Joanna's Facebook at least? I ain't trying to search very hard for these interesting posts.

Jack Storer is a friend on her Facebook page. He is a VERY old man so maybe he is only a friend.

RIP Joanna Ryals.

This case is a complete mess. It's no wonder law enforcement haven't made many official statements on it. Looking at these public Facebook conversations reminds me of the very unusually high number of domestic - type homicides I've been following locally this year even though the official word on this one isn't homicide yet. I don't envy the investigators who have to try to take and analyze concrete statements from all these characters. Joanna seems to have a husband who is still involved in her life in some respect. It seems they've taken the (primary?) boyfriend (who has a wife he is still seeing) into custody for a probation violation charge and have probably impounded his car where it can be thoroughly examined although a lot of time and weather has passed.

I know you weren't victim blaming. I just wanted to add that, regardless of how complicated everyone's connections, no one deserved to end up murdered.
Sometimes it takes people a while to find the "right one". I hope the murder is solved quickly.

Is there any official confirmation that this case is even being investigated as a murder? All I see is that evidence is consistent with her having been hit by a car.
