The handler pulled the dog away, walked around and then the dog would go back to the same spot. Then the handler would lead him a few feet away and he would go back to the same spot. He pulled him back up into the yard and it looked like he had petting him then gave him treats. I think he repeated a part of the same process. I assumed the dog was hitting on remains. I may have missed a few steps but I’m sure the dog found something.

What you're seeing is the dog getting positive reinforcement.

It's something that all search dogs get given, whatever they're searching for.

I read an article, years ago, where the handler talked about how you might be looking for a dead child. And when your dog finds that child, you have to praise and reward. Her dog's reward was to play fetch with her favourite toy for five minutes. And how she'd have to find somewhere close enough that the dog would know that the reward was connected to finding the child's body, but far enough from the grim, sad scene that she didn't seem to be being insensitive to people who didn't understand, or damage the evidence inadvertently.

My guess would be that someone, probably the Mom, who was recently arrested, told them where to look. I have not seen a hole, only digging.

Layer by layer but they stopped and were all looking down.

Right at the beginning of the ABC 33/40 live, about 10 mins in, they found what looked to be like maybe an article of clothing or paper. Dirty and hard to tell but they set it aside.

She most likely has her public defender by now.
