Does it say head wound in this article? Maybe I missed it.

You have to scroll down a good ways, but a witness says so.
The child, wearing a dark blue shirt and khaki pants, appeared to have some kind of a wound to his head. “It looked like somebody had done something,” a witness told News 5.

Should someone update this thread with his name or no? Sorry, I'm still kind of a noob to all this.

 • #144
But the head wound might have been staged ?

I sure hope so. It has broken my heart from the minute that he wasn't identified by his name.

Camden you are now resting with the angels. This shouldn't have happened to you. I am so sorry your precious little life was taken.

They would be able to tell on autopsy whether it was postmortem.

Same here

But don't parents give schools their cell and work numbers. If you cant have your cell at work, wouldn't the school call your work?

I'm wondering if the school ever tried to call.

But kids who die in hot vehicles wake up. They suffer intensely. No five year old is going to just sit there quietly as he bakes to death in a van. They can get out of car seats at that age. They have the motor skills by then.

I agree they would wake up when they got hot and uncomfortable. My 5yr old granddaughter can get in and out of the car and buckle her seat belt.

It doesn't sound like they did. It was the eclipse and many schools gave options as to if the kids attended that day. Perhaps the perfect miscommunication storm. So very sad.

Very interesting information and comments.

Went to police of her own accord.

Extensive arrest history inclyding one for driving with no license

This case seems to get stranger by the minute, maybe I missed something though. But my goodness, how long had that child been deceased for there to be a "stench" in the air that smelled like fish.

52-year-old Florida Beckworth said around 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon she was in the neighborhood and noticed a stench in the air.

"Me and my friend, we're like something smells like fish," said Beckworth. "A few minutes later, a guy came by and said, 'You need to come now they just found a little boy up the street."
Beckworth said the discovery of the child in the driveway of her friend's home was shocking.

OK, I didn't know that. I was assuming if he was asleep already he'd just stay asleep and pass out.

I remember reading about one baby whose dad accidentally left him in the car. He kept hearing, from his office, his car alarm going off. But when he looked outside, he saw nothing. So he just turned it off. His poor baby was in such agony and fighting so hard to get out of that oven that he triggered the car alarm. A baby. I can't imagine how a 5 year old couldn't get out of a car seat.

While I think its' unlikely this is a hot vehicle death, that is simply not true. Working with children, I can tell you MANY 5 year olds have poor fine and gross motor skills. Children are sensory and activity deprived these days. I can't tell you how many kindergarten teachers have to refer students to occupational therapy, because they can't color, draw a line, hold a pencil, keeo a grip, etc. Motor skill delay in kinder and even above is a massive problem. And then you have issues like autism, sensory integration disorders, etc that contribute to low muscle tone. (And low muscle tone on it's own.)

If a child is disabled, that I could understand.

Unfortunately it does happen.:(

That's super surprising to me. Unless something else happened it is hard to understand how a child that age could be trapped. Unless there were special locks on the van.

They would be able to tell on autopsy whether it was postmortem.

Yes. And it might relate to the "abuse of a corpse" charge. We shall see.

Finally, this comments form a witness struck me, in the article:

"Everything inside of me just tore up," said Beckworth. "It didn't matter whose child it was because we're connected through god so every child is your child."

wunderground says the high temp in Mobile yesterday was 93, so it seems possible that decomposition had progressed far enough to be noticeable. Also the girls who found him said he was covered with flies, and they're attracted by the scent of decomposition.
