GUILTY AL - Kamden Johnson, 5, dies in hot day care van, Mobile, 21 Aug 2017 *Arrest*

OMG! Why was this woman even working there? Especially driving a van with her record!? Did they not do a background check?

  • #162
Was this a faith based daycare? If so Alabama is one of the four states where faith based daycares have very little regulations from the state ... which would include background checks, head counts etc.

This is truly heartbreaking and devastating. Looking at that picture by the Christmas tree killed me. He looks so happy and ready for the world. His poor Mom is probably in a fetal position under her blanket.

RIP sweet young Kamden :rose:

When I was catching up after work almost every link had something about her criminal history. Just look back a few pages.

wunderground says the high temp in Mobile yesterday was 93, so it seems possible that decomposition had progressed far enough to be noticeable. Also the girls who found him said he was covered with flies, and they're attracted by the scent of decomposition.

You are correct. The main factor that rapidly speeds up decomposition is the heat factor, and humidity. I believe he was left in the van and the heat inside would soar to way over a 100 degrees in a very short time. The wound that was mentioned being seen may have been discoloration where the skin was already in a decomposing state when he was in the van combined with his little body being left outside in the high heat/humidity. I sure hope she didn't strike Kamden but they have charged her with an abuse of a corpse so she could have hit him afterwards trying to make it look like he was hit by a car.

For the life of me I don't understand how anyone who caused the death of a child could rush to throw their body away like he was unwanted and unloved.

Kamden looks so well kept and cared for and he looks so happy in his photo. He is an adorable handsome little boy. I cant begin to comprehend the pain and suffering his parents are going through. God be with them all.

There are so many cases in the news now about children being left in vehicles who died that you would think it would be in every mind of every caregiver at all times. Surely the daycare center stressed over and over again to always check to make sure all children are out of the transport vehicles and arrive safely at their destination during each and every pick up.

My heart is broken that this beautiful little boy was taken away from his parents, and loved ones along with his bright future that lay ahead of him. :(

It was a church daycare and unlicensed. There are msm articles, but my phone won't let me link. I think 7 states allow for religious exemption from licensure and oversight. The church daycares where I live are abysmal and the only people who use them, are those who can't afford anything else. Daycare costs are so high. It's terrible that people have to send kids to unsafe places.

Outrageous that this woman was entrusted with the care of children. I am broken-hearted for this poor little boy and his devastated family. I noticed they made a statement through their attorney, so I assume they'll go after this negligent daycare provider, and rightly so. My thoughts are with Kamden and his family this dark day.

Link with family attorney's statement:

All else is MOO.

BBM Same here. Last night, I imagined what he would look like. I usually do in these cases, but this time I felt quite certain about the picture I had in my mind. When I saw his picture today, I was like, "yes, that's him!"

He has the brightest eyes and warmest smile. My heart breaks for his family.

BBM

If that's what happened here, I'm sure she was familiar with other cases in the news. Otherwise, why go to that length to cover up a child's accidental death unless she knew the consequences in other cases? Being so much aware of the risk, why was she not more conscientious then? She could've avoided the consequences to begin with and not felt a need to cover up the consequences of her actions. And a family would not be grieving the loss of their beloved son/brother.

It does seem there are people who consistently don't consider beforehand the consequences of their actions yet thrive on covering up after themselves. MOO
