The 54-year-old children’s minister appeared before Jefferson County Judge Laura Petro and entered a “not guilty” plea to the charges that he stabbed his wife and cut her throat. Judge Petro also heard motions from both the prosecution and defense. Shahan’s defense attorney, John Lentine, filed a motion asking for clarification of the indictment against his client and whether the prosecution will argue that Shahan did not act alone in the murder. The prosecution did not answer this motion.
WOW! Court hasn't even started yet this morning and the bombshells are already coming from the reporters on the scene:

I found the items I bolded below interesting:
"Shahan was not in court on Thursday morning for the pre-trial hearing because the judge excused him since it was a brief matter. His attorneys asked prosecutors for information about past break-ins at the Shahan home.
The document filed by the state also included more details about how Karen Shahan died. The defense is arguing someone broke into the couple's home and killed Karen Shahan."
*
"Defense attorneys claim there is other evidence the state hasn't responded to, including a foot print found on a broken door in the home, semen found on Karen Shahan's body and also records of other recent break-ins in the Shahan's neighborhood."
- Past break-ins at the Shahan home? I don't recall that.
- I guess they mean someone other then Richard broke into the house?
- And, didn't we actually look at all the break-ins and events in the general neighborhood area of the Shahan home and found nothing even remotely similar?
- And, semen found on the body? Huh?
Little by little, I suppose one day we will learn the whole story.
