What if RS brought a small utensil with specific content (from someone very young and unknown to police) to stage the scene ...?

That's basically what I'm thinking.

Thinking of Karen Shahan as the anniversary of her death is approaching (7-23-2013). Hard to believe it has been 3 yrs since her murder occurred. May her soul RIP. :rose:

I hope this trial is still on for the first of January 2017. Justice is coming for Karen Shahan!!!

There seems to be nothing new in the news.

Richard Shahan murder trial delayed until May

Shahan's attorneys John Lentine and Wendell Sheffield sought the continuance because of the amount of evidence collected and provided to them by the prosecution.

Just another article! I am glad to see there is a lot of evidence for the defense to go over. jmo

I wouldn't be surprised a bit! (I never knew it was possible until MB's case either. It's amazing what I learn here!)

What a shame that Karen was sentenced to die without a trial but defendant can put off his fate for months at a time.

http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2017/01/trials_to_watch_for_in_2017.html

Court filings show Shahan wrote emails where he claimed that because of his position in the church, he was not able to be romantically involved with men and was also not allowed to get divorced. He reportedly wrote to a British attorney, asking how to get married and receive immigration status in the United Kingdom. Read more about what was revealed in court filings here.
He is scheduled to go to trial the week of May 15 in front of of Jefferson County Circuit Judge Laura Petro.

Yes, at least for now.

Although, per link --
"The Attorney General's Office filed a motion today in Jefferson County Circuit Court to nolle prosequi the murder charge, which means the prosecution will not pursue the case. Because the charges were dropped without prejudice, Shahan can be recharged at a later date if new evidence implicating him is discovered." bbm

So much evidence re motive. Here's hoping for truckloads of other evidence in the future. JM2cts

bbm^. I'm disappointed too ATM but not necessarily disappointed specifically w DA. Is it poss DA told investigators - to get a conviction we need more evd re ___, and investigators have NOT YET been able to provide it?

If sufficient evd for conviction is not yet avail, no use w DA proceeding, then either having jury find him NG or if jury finds him guilty, having appeals ct reverse conviction, which may result in then new trial or worse yet, Double Jeopardy barring DA from retrying. <-- Hard to keep this in mind.

Remember cases where many/most/virtually all W/S sleuthers were certain of def's guilt but jury found NG?
A trial now w an acquittal later w no chance of retrial would be worse than this delay, imo.
