GUILTY AL - Kathleen "Kat" West, 42, murdered, Calera, 13 Jan 2018 *husband arrested*

And the link I posted also made it clear, these are male spouses and romantic partners who are killing women. You obviously didn't read what was linked if you're saying that I'm "combining all intimate partners". No, I'm not. I'm talking about women killed by male romantic partners and the CDC makes that clear.

You seem intent on exonerating the husband, which I find very curious. Whether or not the police called him a POA, the husband is always the first suspect. Always. They start with the husband and work from there.

She was in her own town, in a liquor store buying hard alcohol with a man who looks just like her kind of goofy looking husband about eight hours before she was found dead. Her husband had Facebook photos with what appears to be the same green bottle of hard alcohol as they were buying and was found later with her dead body. All of this is very strange.

I'm not ready to exonerate the husband at this point as it appears he was "on the scene" and drinking heavily with his wife the night she was killed. Again, what happened in that home that night? Is this Websleuths or is this "circle the wagon around the husband" forum? Because the way I see it, the husband has a lot of explaining to do.

Respectfully, I am not trying to exonerate anyone nor can I convict anyone based on statistics alone either. Statistical data is based on solved cases where the relationship to the victim and murderer are known. Has her husband been arrested for her murder? I am just now reading this thread so I realize news of his arrest could have happened and I missed it somehow.

Yes, this is Websleuths which I have been a member of since 2004. Unless the TOS guidelines have changed recently at WS they have always prided themselves in being a victim friendly site which includes family members of the murdered victim/s unless LE has publicly said one of the family members was/is a POI or a suspect.

I don't think respectfully abiding by the TOS (rules) here is 'circling the wagons' for this particular man anymore than it has been for countless other family members of murdered victims that were also off limits from being accused prematurely before even being called a POI or suspect by the investigators on the cases.

Do you have a MSM link where LE has said he was with her at the time she was killed since you have said he was there when it happened.

So what you are wanting me to do I surmise is to go strictly by the 55% statistics on intimate partner murderers only, and totally disregard the other 45% of females who's killers were not intimate partners to the victims?

I think I will do like I have done for many years now and wait for the evidence to come forth from LE only. If he is the one, he will be arrested, rightfully so, but if its like you suggest and LE knows already he was there when she was killed then its puzzling why an arrest has not been made and its over 2 weeks since she was murdered. Usually if it is an intimate partner the arrests come much quicker. We have seen many arrests made within a few short days when an intimate partner was the suspect.

The bottom line for me is whoever did this to Kat and if it is her husband he deserves the harshest punishment allowable law.

But please don't chide me for wanting to wait for the evidence to come forward from police only showing proof who the murderer truly is.

i'd like to know the statistics of who has been found guilty when a woman is found murdered within literally feet of her husband.

Hopefully some neighbor has a security camera.......with footage.

(A good use for an old phone....a cheap camera)

How close was she to her husband when she sustained her fatal injury? I don't think that has been revealed.

Great point, looks like the homes are on the upscale side. Could be a real possibility with the marketing of today's sophisticated security systems, there's cameras everywhere these days. Interesting to see what the cell records show, as this broke a case local to myself wide open with incriminating text evidence. Still going back to the green bottle placed on the cell phone, also no report of any blood trail. With no trail of blood logic says she was killed on the spot, or dumped. Tight chested with LE, but I'm sure they're building a case. Always in my sleuthing, respect and rip to victims of violence.

Not once did I ever say that the husband was "there with her when she was murdered" and saying I did is just trying to cause trouble because I pointed out that it's very odd that you would try this hard to throw suspicion off the husband. The husband was with her at 9pm when she was in the liquor store buying alcohol. He was also at her side at 5am shortly after she was found dead by the neighbors. If he wasn't with her, where was he in those early morning hours while she was being murdered? Hmmmmmmmm......????

Once again, the husband is always the first suspect. Always. If they can clear him, great. But the chances are very high that whoever killed her is not only known to her but likely was a man she was romantically tied to. All of this points to the idea that perhaps something really bad happened in that home the night they were both drinking hard liquor.

Obviously, the husband is not going to be arrested for her murder until they have sufficient evidence against him. It takes time to gather that stuff, especially since they will likely need search warrants and such. <modsnip>

The price on their home and the location would make it a middle to mid upper class for the area.

What’s bothered me in all of this is if I wake up in the middle of the night and my spouse isn’t in bed I notice. I go looking. My husband is the same way. How would he go to sleep without her unless he was maybe inebriated? The half naked out front doesn’t make sense either. I assumed maybe she went out front to smoke and was attacked maybe? However the half in the road half out makes no sense to with that. We’re talking one blow to the head right? Likely not a struggle? This is an area of giant trucks maybe a side mirror to the back of the head. Maybe she was in a truck got out proceeded to talk through the window. Things got heated she sat her things down proceeded to run her mouth and the driver took off accidentally hitting her? So many possibilities.

I saw someone said earlier her mom called it an accident? Where did that info come from?

They are very hush hush so far on the case...maybe not to alarm their suspect until they have proof

We should be hearing soon atleast M.E. report for cause of death...it has been 15 days

Mysteriously quiet from LE in this case since it happened. No comment so far from LE is starting to smell fishy. Judging by the photo of her and husband, with husband wearing shirt that Santa is saying 'where's my hoes', were they running a hush hush escort business? I wonder if this was a trick gone bad, and a drive-by dump out, all the while the husband knew she was escorting that night. All MOO

I wonder if her clothing that she was wearing in the video has been found?

I'm wondering what her toxicology report looks like and what they determine her time of death to be.

Did anyone else just see the Ashleigh Banfield report?

The police didn't go to the liquor store for 2 weeks. The video had been recorded over by then. They got their copy of the video from Inside Edition. Why didn't the liquor store save that video? Knowing she had been there and that the video could help.

I was talking to someone today from Calera and she said she thinks the police are in over their head.

Not everyone watches crime shows like we do, so the liquor store may not have realized how important the video is. Idk, that's just a guess.

A lot are speculating that it could be an accident due to the alcohol, but my gut is telling me it isn't because of the phone and the liquor bottle on top of it. I just don't see her being so drunk that she goes outside in the freezing cold with only a sports bra on, and carefully sitting her phone on liquor bottle down then falling.

I think it's staged, and she was dumped there. If she was chased by someone, you'd think there would be enough noise to awaken someone. Plus her phone and the bottle were carefully sat down.

very good insight flgrl017, Who would stage her across the street from her home...also maybe to shame her leaving her without cloths

  • #157
No blood trail and a bad head wound, no noise, no clothes on except bra. No one saw or heard anything, half on the road half on lawn, bottle she presumably bought in top of cell phone. I'm beginning to think she was having a good time with someone other than her husband and she was quietly dumped from passenger side. MOO

If someone had dumped her would the bottle have been carefully placed on the phone?

That one's a mystery, and who would take the time to do that, because someone did, strange and erie. One of the bigger red flags imo is LE with no statement as of yet. The husband with his job, surely has a working relationship with the town police, and it would have been my guess that him serving military, he would have been heralded around the police brotherhood. Too much time for LE not to make a statement. Almost reeks of a cover up but I'll patiently wait for the updates.

I think she was forcefully locked out of her house by .....

And then she went to call for someone to pick her up and was waiting.

But someone came back out and decided to kill her before she could reach the person by phone. Idk.
