[h=3]Lee, Macon county authorities investigating after human remains found
[/h]Macon County is also working the case trying to determine if the remains belong to a man who went missing and was last seen Jan. 6. However, the remains have not been positively identified as belonging to the missing man.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a construction crew worker who stated that he was working in the area when he saw a suspicious trash bag laying in the creek flowing under the bridge near Cossey Branch.

The caller advised that the trash bag appeared to have what looked to be a human body part inside of it.

Lee County Deputies responded to the scene and was able to confirm the content were that of a human leg.

Lee County investigators say the rest of the victim’s body has not been found, but suspect that foul play was involved.

“It doesn’t appear that this appendage has been on site for an extended period of time,” Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says. “In other words, if there is an individual out there that thinks that it may be a loved one missing a year or two years ago or something like that, that does not appear to be the case. It appears to be much more recent in regards to the condition of the appendage that we discovered.”

Remains of missing Macon County man leads to manhunt for killer

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - (WTVM) - Several more body parts have been discovered in a Lee County creek, leading investigators to identify the victim as a 32-year-old missing man from Macon County.
Detectives believe he was murdered, dismembered and thrown into the creek.
Thursday night, investigators discovered more remains upstream, off of Macon County Road 43. Investigators won't name specific body parts but say some remains were inside trash bags, along with strips of clothing.

"We are going to do everything we can do to find the monster that did this to this man, I repeat monster because it would take a monster to
do something like this." said Sheriff Brunson.

A tattoo and fingerprints helped identify McKency.
